From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Montrichard is a town and commune in the Loir-et-Cher département, in France.

Montrichard is a bustling market town on the Cher River between Blois and Tours. An ancient medieval village, Montrichard is the site of "Le Donjon des Aigles" (The Dungeon of Eagles) a park for birds of prey at the ruins of the old castle keep. Each day, expert handlers give demonstrations of the ancient art of falconry with eagles, condors, hawks, falcons, owls, and vultures.

Another point of interest is the 16th century Nanteuil Fountain, referred to as the "Fountain of Miracles" for its connection to the image of the Virgin Mary. For centuries, devout Catholic pilgrims march in procession each Whit-Monday to the fountain.

Paula Abagnale, mother of the renowned confidence man Frank W. Abagnale, Jr., was born in Montrichard.
