Monticello High School (Virginia)

Monticello High School is a suburban public high school in Charlottesville, Virginia. It is a part of the Albemarle County Public Schools system.

Named after Monticello, the home of the third president Thomas Jefferson, the school opened in 1998 and is located on 70 acres in the Scottsville District, off Route 20 south of Charlottesville. Monticello is a traditional comprehensive high school. Monticello receives students from Walton and Burley Middle Schools.

Dr. Irving Jones, the school's first principal, was named the 2003 National High School Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) ^{[citation needed]}. Billy Haun is the current principal. In the spring of 2006, biology teacher Jeremy Dove was awarded the science teacher of the year award.
