Montezuma

Montezuma is the name of a mythological deity, as well as the common English spelling of the name of two Aztec emperors. Moctezuma is now the preferred spelling of the Emperors' name. There are also a number of other places and things named Montezuma and Moctezuma.

  • Montezuma was also the name of a hero-god in the mythology of certain Indian tribes of the Southwest United States, including the Tohono O'odham and Pueblo people — not to be confused with the historical Aztec Emperors.
