Monte Toc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Monte Toc is a mountain in Northern Italy best known for the Vajont Dam, which was built at the mountain's base in 1960. In 1963, 350 million cubic meters of rock slid down the side of Mount Toc and plunged into the reservoir created by the Vajont Dam, creating a megatsunami 200 meters high, that came over the dam wall and destroyed the town of Longarone, killing more than 2000 people.
