Mont Fleury, Kinshasa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mont Fleuri quarter (quartier) is a very exclusive, plush area of Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Located in the commune (district) of Ngaliema, Mont Fleuri is known for its super-sized mansions, and sprawling compounds, owned by the creme de la creme of the Congo's great fortunes.

It is also known as "Kinshasa's Beverly Hills", as it is also the coveted place, where one can find the ornate mansions of the most successful stars of the Congolese music industry, such as Koffi Olomide, JB Mpiana, Werrason, and others.

Because it is a gated, and guarded community, the Mont-Fleuri has recently seen the construction of fully furnished apartment buildings, that are rented to Western - mostly American - diplomats and expatriates, willing to pay a high price for the comfort and quiet it provides.
