Monster World IV is an adventure platform game released, in January 1994, exclusively in Japan for the Sega Mega Drive. It is part of the Wonder Boy/Monster World series, and is the final game in the series.
The story involves a girl called Asha, who lives in a desert. She is called to put a stop to some force that threatens her people. Gameplay reveloves around walking along a 2D landscape fighting a variety of monsters, as well as interacting with various people. Whilst this was viewed as another sequel to the Wonder Boy series, as it was only released in Japan, it remains solely as part of the Monster World series, although some games from both series overlap, therefore allowing for some continuity.
A Nice Little bit of Countinuity: In the Royal Rapadagnan Library, one book brings light to the disappearance of Shion, the playable character from the last game, stating that a large hole appeared next to his house and he was never seen from again.
Another little bit of Countinuity: Again in the Royal Rapadagnan Library, a book is entitled The Magic of Eleanora, featuring the Fairy Queen of Alsedo from the last game.
North Americans can now play Monster World IV legally through Gametap, although it is left untranslated.
