Monroe Township, Logan County, Ohio

Monroe Township is one of seventeen townships in Logan County, Ohio. It is located in the southeastern portion of the county. Portions of the villages of West Liberty and Valley Hi lie within Monroe Township. The unincorporated community of Pickrelltown also lies within the township. The 2000 U.S. Census found 1,503 people in the township.

It borders or touches the following other townships and municipalities:
- Salem Township, Champaign County, on the south;
- Liberty Township, on the west;
- Jefferson Township, on the north;
- Perry Township, on the northeast (touches, but does not border);
- Zane Township, on the east;
- Wayne Township, Champaign County, on the southeast

Monroe Township was formed in 1822 from Jefferson Township.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
