Monolophosaurus ("one-crested lizard") was a carnosaur from Late Jurassic (about 170 MYA) China It was named for the single crest on top of its skull, and had a lot of sharp teeth. It could grow to be 17 feet (5 meters) long & 6 feet (2 meters) high. This dinosaur weighed up to 1500 pounds (700Kgs). The area that Monolophosaurus was found showed signs of water, so it is possible that this dinosaur lived on the shore of lakes or ocean. Monolophosaurus may be related to the allosaurids.
