[edit] Plot

Malcolm and his family are startled from their sleep to the noise of a burglar breaking into their house. As Hal begins to panic, Reese takes action by attacking the burglar with a baseball bat, instantly incapacitating him. When the police officers arrive, they commend Reese for his actions and present him with an award for his valiant actions. Inspired by all this, Reese decides to become a vigilante and minor problems in his neighborhood.

While Reese is enjoying his new "suburban-hero" type role, Hal becomes very insecure as he feels Reese is slowly gaining dominance over him. Hal begins to set up scenarios in which he might be made out to be a hero. Unfortunately, they all fail.

During the episode, it is revealed that Craig has bought a helper monkey to tend his injuries he sustained when he fell from his roof. Infuriated by Craig's boundless demands, the Monkey turns on Craig by torturing him through various methods. During one of Hal's visits, Craig informs Hal that Monkey is out to get him. Suddenly, the Monkey attacks Hal using a random assortment of household objects and appliances. Through a long and vigorous battle, Hal is able to trap the monkey. The episode closes with a Hal proudly reading Dewey a short article about his ordeal with Craig's monkey in the local newspaper.
