Monifah is an American female R&B singer best known for the 1998 hit "Touch It". (with samples of Laid Back's "White Horse")

Monifah was raised in Spanish Harlem in Manhattan. She was signed to MCA Records and released her debut album, Moods...Moments, in 1996. The album featured the R&B hit "I Miss You (Come Back Home)" and another minor R&B hit "You".

Monifah's sophomore album, Mo'Hogany, was released in 1998 and featured the highly successful track, "Touch It". The song became a dancefloor staple and reached #9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Her third album, Home, executive produced by Teddy Riley, contained the minor R&B hit "I Can Tell".
