Monica Bedi is the companion of international terrorist Abu Salem. She was an Indian actress, and acted in a number of Bollywood films. It is said that she acted in A-list movies because of Abu Salem 'requesting' producers to cast her. Their companionship is an example of the underworld-filmdom nexus in Mumbai and (Bollywood).

Around 10-13 November 2005 she was extradited to India from Portugal along with wanted criminal Abu Salem.

On 29th September 2006, CBI court convicted Monica Bedi for passport forgery case. CBI had filed a case against Bedi under section 420 (cheating), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and section 12 of the Passport Act for procuring a passport on a fictitious name and address from Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh in 2001.
