[edit] Troops

This section is poorly written, as though it were taken from historical texts.

(Includes troops from Shogun: Total War)

Mongols:

Korean Spearmen - Basically the mongols basic troops. They are better than the Ashigaru but not as good as the Yari Samurai.

Korean Gaurdsmen - Equally to japans naginata infantry. The armor difference between the two is little meaning the armor of the gaurdsmen is lighter.

Thunder Bombers - One of the mongols artillary. Capable of throwing explosives in a long range. If thrown to your own army then they will die as well. This can possibly change the tide of the battle if use cautiously.

Korean Skirmishers - Another artillary of the mongols. With their wooden shield they can protect themselves from the arrows that approach from archers. They throw Spears in a longer range than the japanese archers.

Light Cavalry - This is a counter part to the japanese cavalry archers. They have longer range of fire and once out of arrows they can switch to melee.

Heavy Cavalry - Just like the warrior monks these troops are also one of the strongest in the game. More like the japanese heavy cavalry but equipped with spears and is unpenatrable against thae yari samurai or ashigaru.

Japanese:

Yari Ashigaru - The basic spearmen for the japanese. Their armor is lighter than the Yari samurai and costs less. These warriors are conscripted peasents.

Yari Samurai - Another basic spearsmen for the japanese. Stronger than the ashigaru these are more highly trained troops and is affective to cavalry units.

Samurai Archers - These are the basic artillary units. Equipped with light armor, limited arrows and a bow. Once out of arrows it can be switch to melee.

Naginata - Japan's advanced spearmen. Equipped with a naginata they also have light armor than the nodachi but heavier than the yari infantry.

No Dachi Samurai - Japan's swordsman. Equiped with a Nodach sword they have light armor for speed and can destroy an army with there devastating swords.

Warrior Monks - The strongest foot troops in the game. Buddhists that are equipped with spears and can destroy armies in a devastating blow. Their armor is heavy which make any artillary easier to kill these kind of troops. If engaging with other warrior monks then they will be less useful because of the same religion.

Arquebusiers - The opposite of an ashigaru. They are peasents armed with an arquebus and can kill enemy troops if close to them and try to engage. Unlike the musketeers the arqbus are useless if in the rain. They can switch to melee.

Musketeers - Another gunpowder unit for the japanese. Same as the arquebusiers they are equipped with muskets. They can also exchange to melee.

Kensai - One of the newest troops in the game. These are the most deadliest units. Only built for one the kensai can massively destroy a unit with ease. These were known as the sword saints. It is worse if any artillary starts to enngage it.

Battlefield Ninjas - These highly trained ninjas are very hard to find. They use stealth either in forests or openfield. They are equipped with shurikens and can be used to destroy generals or Daimyos.

Ashigaru Crossbowmen - Instead of ashigarus with guns they are armed with crossbows instead. They have a slow firing rate so that opposing units can rush into them. Can be switched to melee.

Cavalry Archers - Samurai archers riding of horses. Faster which can make them easily to escape the opposing artillary. Can be swithced to melee.

Yari Cavalry - Yari samurais on horses. One of the basic cavalry units.

Heavy Cavalry - Highly trained troops that are like the nodachi except they are more skilled, stronger and more deadlier to opposing ground troops or cavalry.

Naginata Cavalry - The naginata can now be used as a cavalry unit. They are less slower and have heavier armor than its ground state.

Diplomacy Troops for the Japanese:

Emissary - These are wondering samurai traveling place to place sending treaties to other clans. They are also trained to negotiate in order to ally with your clan, afford a cease fire, etc. Also can be used as spies. If offer doesnt workout then he will be safe or he will comeback with only his head.

Ninjas - The ninja can be used in many ways. They can assasinate enemy daimyos, generals, or emissaries. Having them to counterspy (staying in your own province to capture any ninjas or shinobis). They can be used to retrive back your geisha or you can use them to spy. Watch out for border forts, gaurd towers, shinobis and ninjas or else the ninja will be caught and will be killed.

Shinobi - Spies that are different than the ninja. The only purpose for a shinobi is it can only be used as a spy or can be used to counter spy. If traveled to an enemy province they can lower loyalty of the province which causes rebellions to start. If counter spying to your own province then they can increase the loyalty. Watch out for border forts, gaurd towers, or enemy shinobis plus ninjas. They can capture your shinobi and will be killed.

Priest - Only used if only the daimyo is converted catholic. These are just like emissaries except they must negotiate with ONLY catholic daimyo. If sent to daimyo that is buddhist then he will be killed.
