Moneybags
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sir Moneybags, is a character in the Spyro the Dragon series. He is a rich, dishonest and greedy Avalarian bear who loves to con people out of their gems, frequently asking for, "a small fee" in return for his help in gaining abilities or accessing new characters or parts of a level that are essential for their forward progression. He is considered one of the most hated character in the game, at least among the story characters, and often among the fans of the game series. He made his debut in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!
Moneybags gives Spyro new abilities and opens passages for him when Spyro pays him enough gems. Moneybags teaches Spyro the following moves:
- Climb
- Swim
- Headbash
He also opens bridges and passageways to new levels, and in Year of the Dragon, releases the other playable characters (who were caught by the Sorceress) from their cages.
After Ripto was defeated, Hunter held Moneybags down as Elora returned the gems Spyro paid him during the game and apologized for him.
More recently, in Year of the Dragon, Moneybags had a dragon egg and was eager to sell it for gems. This enraged Spyro. He chased Moneybags, who was dropping all of the gems he'd taken from Spyro during the course of the game, until he reluctantly handed over the dragon egg.
Moneybags now owns his own chain of shops. His sons want to become just like him, and often help run their father's stalls.
