[edit] Selected articles on Portal:F1
Hello again.
I dropped notes round a while back to those who have listed themselves at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Formula_One to ask for suggestions for selected articles on portal:Formula One. There was a pretty good response, both in terms of how it might work and of articles suggested. Damon Hill came out with the most support and was brought up to Good Article standard after a lot of work by Skully Collins and others before going on as the F1 portal selected article a couple of weeks ago. It is now at Featured Article Candidates as a Featured Article candidate (why not drop by and see if you can help polish it further?).
Several people who responded to the original request suggested that a monthly or bi-weekly 'Selected Article' could act as a catalyst for an improvement drive to get more articles up to a higher standard. Although it wasn't quite what I had in mind when I started, this seemed to work pretty well for the Damon Hill article, so I've drafted up a process for doing this more regularly. See Portal_talk:Formula_One/Management_of_selected_articles for details. Essentially the suggestion is that we vote for an article to improve every couple of weeks and at the end of the improvement process the article goes on the portal as the new 'Selected Article'. I'd be grateful for any comments on how this might work - I'm sure some of you are more familiar with things 'Wiki' than me - as well as your votes for the next candidate (by 16 July).
You may also want to help with the article Gilles Villeneuve, which was the next most popular after Damon Hill. The idea is to try and get it up to GA standard by 16 July and then put it on the portal as the 'Selected Article'. I hope you can help! 4u1e 18:12, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removed myself from Dad's Army WikiProject
I've decided to leave the Dad's Army WikiProject. All I've really done was the one template, and that's about it. I've removed myself from the members list. Thanks for you concern. ISD 19:47, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] That enough?
Just done the profile for Getting The Bird. A funny episode, half remebered. For now I would like to focus on other things, but have done that to stop getting pressured. I prefer character/actor work, if there's any going. I want to feel I'm pulling my weight, but if I carry on with episodes, I'd have to search for another episode I've seen, can remember, that hasn't been done and that has a title I recognise. I would point out I created the pages for John Laurie and James Beck, practically created the page for Arthur Lowe. I will work on the episodes, but in time. Cheers to our very own Captain Manwaring.--Crestville 20:48, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Plugging away at Dads Army
I've done several episodes already, and will do continue to do more. Sjrsquared 12:12, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
I made The Cricket Match, but in doing so I noticed some of the dates List of Dad's Army radio episodes seems to be wrong (I think). The list says the dates for the Cricket Match were 16 July 1974 for recording and 11 February 1975 for broadcast. However this website has the dates 1st May 1975 for recording, and 27th July 1976 for broadcast. I think you've done most of the work on the list so maybe you check, thanks! Glad you liked it :) I thought about adding occupation to it as well: Mainwaring - bank manager, Jones - grocer, Frazer - funeral director etc. ? Tim! 21:45, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia: WikiProject Fawlty Towers
Hello, you signed up for the Fawlty Towers wikiproject, and it is up and running (only just) - may need a hand to start with because I'm not too familiar with wikiprojects, (stubs and templates in particular). Hope you are satisfied join me and improve the standard of articles related to unarguably one of the most influencial television programmes of all time! Regards! Foxearth 11:00, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Dadsarmy question
Hi, I was just wondering why you have removed the template from Things That Go Bump in the Night - I have put the template on every episode pages to aid navigation around the articles without going back to the main Dad's Army page each time. Bob 17:52, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hello again, no problem about that. It's certainly coming together now, this project - I hope you don't mind my suggestion about the radio episodes. Bob 19:42, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Yes - I think I replied on there. As for DVD/Audio, it would certainly be useful to have a list of DVD and Audio releases available on the main page, but probably not as a separate page. After all, featured article requirements ask for a list if possible, so perhaps that could be it. I'm of the same opinion for the missing episodes - after all, their plots can be expanded on the individual episode pages, and we do not want to remove too much text from the main page if we intend it to be featured. After all, there are a lot of missing Doctor Who episodes, but only a few Dad's Army episodes. Bob 20:01, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I haven't heard many of those, so I'm probably not the man to expand it - I caught a few on BBC7 a while back, but I can't remember that much about them, now. Bob 20:06, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiproject Blackadder
Hi, well I'm a big fan of Blackadder, but to be honest I'm not sure how much I can contribute that has not already been said - I don't have any reference books on it, for example. The other thing was that there is so much already out there, it seemed a bit daunting to try and sort it all out. However, I suppose I could write a few episode entries. I'll perhaps rejoin if you like - I'm not as busy as I was when I crossed myself out. Bob 19:33, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A Jumbo Sized Problem
Hello, I think that could work quite well - I must admit I haven't heard the radio equivalent of that episode, although, as you point out, it sounds as if there is a big difference. Therefore, it will be quite interesting to compare the TV version to the radio version when the full plots are written. Perhaps the link to A Jumbo Sized Problem could then link directly to that section on the list of radio episode article. Bob / Talk 22:30, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message about The Cricket Match/The Test. I made it into a redirect rather than deleting it though. Tim! 16:28, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] To do list
Hello, um, did you mean to delete the "to do" list from the Dad's Army project page? Bob talk 20:41, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A Desperate Drive, and other thing
Hello again, with regards to the layout, it's not too bad, although in some ways I feel the TV episode is better having the priority, with the radio episode being a subheading. That said, I don't mind either way. As for the other thing, yes I would be quite happy to help, although I'm not that bothered about having a 'position' - "admin" might be confusing, so perhaps something like "WikiProject sub-coordinator" would be better. Thanks. Bob talk 11:25, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Dad's Army Cast bw.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Dad's Army Cast bw.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. [edit] Disused railway lines
Hi, when you add new disused station articles for disused lines in England can you please add more details than just the name and a few words. I've just been through the entries you've created for the Eryholme-Richmond branch line and added much more details beyond that they were stations in Yorkshire such as saying where they served, for which the village articles exist. Even just saying that there were stations and not are stations would be better as they are listed as part of a disused line and are obviously no longer railway stations. Plus where did you get the info as your asumed layout of the branch is wrong? --Achmelvic 23:20, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi, same comments as above really for the Bala Ffestiniog Line, I have just corrected the order of stations on the line and amended a lot of present tense references to past tense since the line closed 45 years ago. Counterlanguage 00:52, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject query
Hello, I am cleaning up old proposals at the list of WikiProject proposals and I am wondering if you are going to create the BBC sitcom project? I would like to archive your proposal since it has been several months. --Aguerriero (talk) 15:19, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
