Molybdic acid refers to hydrated forms of molybdenum trioxide.

The simplest form, the monohydrate, is H2MoO4. The dihydrate is also found.

Other forms have complicated polymeric molybdate ions. The salts of molybdic acid are called Molybdates. Because of the numerous oxidation states that are possible with Molybdenum it is capable of forming a very wide variety of salts.
