Moloch (Neuroshima)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Moloch is the ultimate enemy the mankind was to encounter in the fictional world of a Polish role playing game Neuroshima. It is an evil artificial intelligence in a form of an enormous conglomerate of steel, concrete and computers, located on the northern area of the US, ranging from Oregon to Wisconsin. It gained independence from humans and emerged in 2020s. The war with Moloch started then and and as a result, most of the population on Earth has been wiped out.
[edit] Strength
Moloch is comprised of thousands of factories, power plants and military bases, which were incorporated during his expansion. All these structures have been converted to be integral parts of Moloch's infrastructure and are working all the time, producing new machines, mutants, weapons and advanced technology. His primary strike force are machines of different models. Most of them are constructed with the use of all the materials availabe, so it sometimes happens that a machine is built over an existing piece of machinery or, for example, a body of a car. The degree of artificial intelligence found in those machines' CPUs varies from simpliest algorithms to a complex, analytical electronic brains.
[edit] Strategy
Moloch's artificial intelligence is based on pre-war military computers and as such he is able to fight an open war. But when all the armies of humans were defeated and the remnants of human forces avoided open battles, he faced guerilla warfare, which he was not capable of winning easily. He is in possession of large amounts of nuclear weapons, but will not use them. He is very careful and cautious in his actions, as if he was afraid of making a decisive strike.
[edit] Expansion
Moloch usually sends mutant or machine scouts to the area he is interested in (usually a town or a factory, plant, or any other industrial facility). His scouts recover the intelligence before the main forces strike. After the defenders retreated, robotic workers are summoned to the area to establish a link between the newly annexed area and Moloch's main body so that the machines stationed there are in his direct command and the location is supplied with electrical power. Moloch often strikes locations far away from his current position and takes them over, and then successively incorporates the area in between.
