Mollie Katzen

Mollie Katzen (born 1950 in Rochester, New York) is an American chef, cookbook author and artist. She is best known for her seminal vegetarian cookbook, the Moosewood Cookbook (1977), inspired by the Moosewood Restaurant collective she helped create near Cornell University and Ithaca College. She has authored and illustrated several other best-selling vegetarian cookbooks, including The Enchanted Broccoli Forest (1982), Still Life with Menu (188), and Vegetable Heaven and Sunlight Cafe (1997); three children's cookbooks (Pretend Soup (1994), Honest Pretzels and Salad People (1999) and recently co-authored (with Walter Willett) Eat, Drink and Weigh Less: A Flexible and Delicious Way to Shrink Your Waist Without Going Hungry. She has lectured extensively on nutrition and hosted a cooking program on the Public Broadcasting System.
She attended the Eastman School of Music and Cornell University, and received her bachelor's degree in fine arts from the San Francisco Art Institute. She is the sister of Boston Symphony Orchestra horn player, Daniel Katzen.
