Is he called Hafeez because he has memorised the entire Koran (as in Hafiz)? Or is this just his family name?

If he has memorised the Koran, given he is currently only 26 and must spend a lot of time on cricket, that's a pretty incredible achievement. Can anyone clarify?

Muhammad Hafeez is the best guy i have heard of so far n now INSHAALAH i will go to see him in real ..even though i havnt seen him yet he is soo cute n I LOVE HIM love Akeela xx
