RFA

To give you a fair shot at my support vote, I added more questions at your RFA. I felt so bad about giving you a oppose vote. :-( They are optional of course and you do not have to answer them but it could help your chances at adminship. Moe 06:32, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

No problem, I have answered them now. I fell for your new message trick also :( haha. - Cohesion 09:24, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Glad my answers helped change your mind, just out of curiosity what are your feelings on bv vs test3/4? That question seemed kinda specific, and I have never heard anyone's opinions on it really. - Cohesion 19:26, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Oh, I got these questions from my previous RFA, and I thought those questions were specific enough for true admin material to answer lucratively. Anyways, IMO, the test3/test4 should be used for newcomers that are vandalizing. Although that is sort of broad, it does seperate from the usage of the bv template which should be used on a returning/repetitive vandal or against a user making racial and homophobic slurs. Wait a second... why am I answering these questions? lol Oh well, good luck in your nomination. ;-) Moe 19:35, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Ahh, ok. Yeah, I did think the questions were good, that one was just so specific I thought there might be some issue I wasn't aware of regarding it :D Anyway, thanks for the support and see you around :) - Cohesion 19:38, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

24.53.135.46 block request

Did I make an error requesting a block for this IP at WP:AIV? You removed the request mentioning a block in the edit summary, but the IP is not currently blocked. Its block log lists an expired block from a week ago. The user is back vandalizing pages again. Phr 20:02, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

The IP has not stopped vandalizing. See here and here. Phr 20:52, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Please examine the two diffs that I cited. They are both from today and they are both vandalism ("push it to the limit"). See the edit history of Limit (mathematics) for dozens of reversions of this same vandalism. Phr 21:05, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
I am sorry but WP:AGF does not apply here. There is no plausible way to interpret those two diffs as good faith edits. They are vandalism. WP:UCS. Phr 21:15, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
I don't see how to interpret WP:AGF except "in the absence of clear evidence to the contrary, assume so-and-so's edits are in good faith". Here, so-and-so is that IP address and examining both that person's edit history and the two edits from today both are clear evidence of bad faith. You said to re-list the person if he came back and vandalized today, which he/she did twice. Now you say leave it alone because he/she hasn't vandalized in the last few hours. If he comes back and vandalizes again and I don't spot it within 5 minutes, are you going to say AGF because the person hasn't vandalized in the last 5 minutes? Just how much does it take to say enough is enough? That person has been around for months and has made dozens of edits, and as far as I can tell, every single one of them is vandalous (some RHPS expert will have to check the "Brad and Janet" one). Phr 21:26, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Anon

Normally I'd agree (and you'll note that I removed the earlier anon saying two vandalisms wasn't enough to block), but this anon just came off a week block and immediately began vandalizing again in the exact same fashion. To me that suggests a static IP, and the same person, who doesn't need four warnings again before a block is handed out. IMO, it's clear that this person is the same one who was blocked for a week and already knows precisely what he's doing and that it's not right. · Katefan0 21:33, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

No sweat. ;) I'd rather someone call me on what they feel were mistakes than let me make them again · Katefan0 21:39, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
I agree with the above post from Katefan0 and with all due respect to Moe Epsilon, I think Moe's recent comments at User talk:Phr understates the situation with the now-blocked IP. The person has made dozens of vandalous edits over several months, two clearly vandalous edits today. Keeping that "push it to the limit" plague under control is a huge pain in the neck: while the obvious targets like Limit (mathematics) are easy to keep an eye on, it shows up in other places where it would be easily missed except by checking the contrib history of IP's that propagate it anywhere. WP:COOL and "we're just talking about two edits" doesn't apply. There are hundreds (thousands?) of these edits all over Wikipedia and the people propogating them are sockpuppets or meatpuppets and should be responded to as such. WP:SOCK. (Update: saw Moe's response on Kate's page, am glad it's straightened out now.) Phr 21:44, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

re: agf

Again, you said to re-add the person if he started re-vandalizing today. He vandalized before he was blocked, the block expired, and he sure enough started re-vandalizing today, so I re-added him. It turns out you meant something different by "re-vandalizing today" and it turns out I didn't guess the correct interpretation. Again, AGF: I did what I thought you said to do. Ultimately, my relisting was the right thing to do, since Katefan0 reviewed the record and blocked the person and you agreed that the block was a correct one. In reviewing the record which you didn't bother to do, Katefan0 acted as a more conscientious admin than you did. As for your feeling unpleasant toward me, well, if you don't want me replying to you, then stop hassling me. This is a pain in the neck for me as well as for you, and it's your lack of conscientiousness that caused this exchange to use more energy than the vandal used. Please try to follow Katefan0's example and be more conscientious in the future. Phr 22:39, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

I hope you have better luck with this username as it relates to Vandals

My prefrences toward wrestling is I'am wrestle-a-holic first and a smark second in that I'm more a mark the a smart in general. Also I hope you stay around for along time since Wikipedia Wrestling section would become useless without people who keep Wikipedia factual and not like Uncyclopedia. I try my best to help out because I detest vandilism in all it's form.

AfD Marcus White

Hi could I please get you to revisit your vote on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Marcus White. Just because it was vandal who nominated it doesn't mean it should be kept. Thanks. --Martyman 06:10, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject U.S Counties

Hi Beland. I wanted to ask you a question about the way I was cleaning up an article. Are you opposed to edits like this?
before
after

If you are please tell me. I was thinking of joining that project simply so I could go around making edits like that for easier viewing. Moe 17:33, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

That looks fine to me. A more informative caption for readers not already familiar with U.S. geography might be something like, "The position of County X within the state of Y.", with a link to the article on the state. Thanks for your help, Beland 07:46, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Heartagram

How are you the "creator of this work"? This is as clear-cut a case of copyright violation as I've yet seen on WP. It's the intellectual property and trademark of HIM, which in turn Bam Margera has sub-licensed for a fee. Just because you drew a copy of it in MSPaint doesn't mean you created it, much less have the right to release it into the public domain under the GDFL - what if you did the same to the McDonald's M? You even gave it the filename "HIM logo". There is a tag for "logo" which you should immediately apply to this image. Copyrighted images can only be used on WP to identify the artists and works they belong to, which does not include being part of a WP editor's signature. This is exactly what all the picture licensing controls are designed to avoid. Deiz 05:07, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Any image based on the HIM logo is a trademark infrigement; it is almost certainly a copyright infringement as well. It does not matter how the logo is created; if it is designed to mimic their logo, it is a derivative work of their logo. Such images could only be fair use when used in the band or logo articles. Including it on your user page or in your signature is not fair use. Superm401 06:35, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Image:HIM logo.jpg

Could you make your bot remove the above image from all it's file links. Apparently, it's copyrighted, to my displeasure. ;-( Anyways, could you do it? Moe 06:36, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Working on it. Assuming nothing goes wrong, OrphanBot should finish the job in about three hours. --Carnildo 08:30, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

HIM logo

Thanks for getting the bot to remove the links. I've changed the copyright tag on the image accordingly. You can find out more at WP:L, where the clause on image quality might be of interest - images should be of the highest possible quality/resolution and in .png format where possible. I would imagine this logo needs to be replaced with an official one for WP purposes. Deiz 13:14, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the info on my signature, fixed. Deiz 15:32, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Thank you for your support of my request for adminship. I'm delighted that the RfA ultimately succeeded with a final consensus of 52/1/0, so I am now an administrator. If you ever have any comments regarding my editing, or I can help you at any point in the future, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page. Again, thank you! Moe, I think you've seriously missed the point here. I'm not going to continue this on-wiki as the user follows me around, making insulting remarks. I've done nothing of the kind. Please email me if you'd like to discuss. I will continue to remove the user's abusive comments from my talk page, as you have done. Avriette 00:40, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

I am very sorry for any inconvienience I have caused you. Unfortunately my brother was on my account at that time and was being very idiotic and writing stupid remarks to people. Esperanza Elections

Hello there, former SWD ;) I just wanted to thank you for your supportive vote in the ongoing Wikipedia elections. It means a lot to me to have fellow Wikipedians acting in the Esperanzian way, and it gives me hope for the future of Wikipedia. Thanks so very much. Regards, Bratsche 02:11, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Wow, thanks a lot. I wish I could give you a picture, but I'm a bit concious of having my photo plastered on the Internet. You've made my day. Cheers, Bratsche 04:08, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

TfD nomination order

In an edit on the (now deleted) Template:User queerrights, you used the edit summary "if you want to make an tfd, please post it at WP:TFD first before tagging". This is incorrect; the instructions at WP:TFD clearly say you should tag first. --Cesarb 01:59, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Are you the one who deleted it? In any case, I said that because the person who nominated it for deletion didn't bother to list it at WP:TFD, only tag it. Thats what I essentially wanted to say. Moe 02:18, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
No, it was someone else. See the deletion log. --Cesarb 02:21, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

About my Roster changes

Dear Moe I changed some names on the roster page so it actually says the real name of the person with no Nicknames

examples Carlito (Carlos Colón, Jr.) intead of Carlito (Carly Colon)

Chavo Guerrero (Salvador Chavito Guerrero III instead of Chavo Guerrero (Chavo Guerrero Jr.)

Snitsky (Eugene A. Snitsky) instead of Snitsky (Gene Snitsky)

Torrie Wilson (Torrie Anne Wilson-Gruner) instead of Torrie Wilson

For Jonathan Coachman I changed him to Jonathan "The Coach" Coachman because his known as both names. example: If every wrestling was list as there nickname the WMXX Main Event would been The Game vs. Heart Break Kid vs. the Crippler

Why are Jillian Hall & Candice Michelle list as Jillian Hall| Jillian Hall and Candice Michelle| Candice Michelle? BionicWilliam 22:39, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Hey Moe, thank you for supporting me in Esperanza council election. I appreciate it. I almost fall for that new message at the top every time.--DakotaKahn 06:28, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

TY, but ...

Hello! I hope you're well; I'm on a wikibreak of sorts ... ha! But thank you for your vote of confidence and request (especially since I do not recall interacting with you extensively beforehand): I appreciate it! I've been similarly encouraged by others to become a Wp Administrator.

However, I respectfully decline an RfAdmin at this time. I may consider this at some later date (and one of the advocates I mentioned wants to nominate me later), but I'm not ambitious – or perhaps foolish? ;) – enough to pass that bar just yet.

Please let me know if you've any questions; thanks again! E Pluribus Anthony 21:57, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Question

How do you create that thing you have at the top of your user page/subpages? You know, the green thing with links to your talk page and your subpages? Evan Robidoux 00:50, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Sure, as long as it doesn't cause you too much trouble. Oh, and you got me again with that "You have new messages" thing :P Evan Robidoux 00:59, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
I want one for my user page, talk page, userboxes, to do list, gallery and "vandal database." I don't have pages to all of those things yet. Do you want me to create them? Evan Robidoux 01:12, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
OK, I'm done. These are the pages to link to: User:Evan Robidoux, User talk:Evan Robidoux, User:Evan Robidoux/Userboxes, User:Evan Robidoux/To do list, User:Evan Robidoux/Vandal database and User:Evan Robidoux/Gallery. Evan Robidoux 01:28, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. Evan Robidoux 01:39, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
OK. Thanks again. Evan Robidoux 02:05, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

With apologies for the impersonal AWB-ness of the message... Thanks for your support on my recent request for adminship. It passed at 91/1/0, and I hope I can continue to deserve the community's trust. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you, and if I make a mistake be sure to tell me. My talk page is always open. ESkog 02:29, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Your vote on my RfA

With regard to your "oppose" vote in my RfA, I assure you that I am not using a sockpuppet as KI purported. It's a ludicrous and hurtful accusation that is entirely without merit. If this is the reason for your opposition to my nomination, I hope you'll read my comments on said page and consider changing or at the very least withdrawing your vote. If there are other reasons behind your opposition, I respect that and am sorry for wasting your time. Brossow 21:27, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

I just posted this reply on my Talk page with regard to your comment. I thought I'd copy it here to save you some time and hassle:
I respect that, though I'd like to point out that in terms of clock hours I would bet I've spent a good deal more time on Wikipedia than many people who have been regsitered longer and had no such opposition to their vote. Not arguing at all; just providing something to ponder. Regardless, thank you for your time and consideration. Brossow 21:42, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Changing names

Hi, I took me quite a while to realise that you were SWD316. I was wondering why I had the user and talk pages of a Moe Epsilon on my watchlist when I couldn't remember adding them. I think your new username is better than your old one - way to go! :-) --Latinus 22:28, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I was wondering how you know this IP is McFly? I'm willing to do a longer block but I don't really see a notice or anything. It's more than possible I'm missing something, if you could let me know that'd be cool! Thanks! Rx StrangeLove 23:30, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Whidden Hall and User:72.138.29.49

Hi Moe Epsilon, and thanks for trying to clean up my talk page by removing the message from this user. I don't think it was necessary in this case, so I have restored it. I would normally only remove the most offensive or obscene personal attacks, but thanks again for your good intentions. Cheers. -- Cactus.man 18:11, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Ooh, thanks for the 'star :o)

I'll keep my eye out for more hoaxes, I'll leave your fake new message notice alone, though :) Obli 22:45, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Oh to have that much time on my hands... *Sigh* -- Francs2000 21:27, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Well the wikibreak was initally over some shit I was getting from a bunch of idiots engaging in edit warring over this page which was getting me down, but now it's just turned into a general break. What's going on at the moment is that my employers (who I shall refrain from naming, all I'll say is that they are a local government organisation) are looking to make up their £15 million deficit in this year's budget, which means service cuts, which means job losses. I'm working my ass off at the moment leaving little time for anything else, but at least in April I should still have a job. I can calm down a bit again then, and enjoy the Spring and get back on with extra-curricular activities like piano playing, Wikipedia and roleplaying. -- Francs2000 21:34, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Re: stress?

Stress? Nah, I just don't like what Esperanza is doing (and has been abused for). Wikipedia is a project with a community, not a community with a project. Cheers, Alphax 00:34, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Award

I award you this barnstar for your constant perseverance and dedication to the project and to the Wikipedia community.
I award you this barnstar for your constant perseverance and dedication to the project and to the Wikipedia community.
Your recent behavior has been exemplary, especially since you changed your user name to Moe Epsilon. I've seen nothing but helpful and inspiring contributions from you lately. I was hoping you would continue to build up a solid reputation and eventually become an admin. Anyone who perseveres through four gruelling RfA's is undoubtedly dedicated to our goal of building a free-content encyclopedia — and addicted to it! Please, feel free to take a wiki-break and try to relieve some stress; but I sincerely hope that you come back to the project and continue to edit productively. --TantalumTelluride 02:43, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
P.S. I'm sorry if that sounded too much like a "corny" Esperanza message, and I think it's a shame that typical messages from members of Esperanza have become corny and impersonal, since Eperanza is supposed to be about strengthening the community. Anyhow, I really have been meaning to give you and several other outstanding Wikipedians some barnstars lately. In fact, I'm about go express my appreciation of a couple other users now, before it's too late. --TantalumTelluride 04:38, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
