Moderator

Moderator, a Latin word for manager, ruler, director, can refer to:
- Moderator provinciae, the title of certain Roman provincial governors.
- a Scots and (originally) Scottish English, gender-neutral word that approximates chairman, someone who convenes, heads and "moderates" the discussion in a meeting, such as the nonpartisan presiding officer of a town meeting
- The chairperson of a church court in Presbyterian churches; this includes Moderator of the General Assembly, Moderators and clerks in the Church of Scotland and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.
- A position in some Roman Catholic organizations, including the Apostleship of Prayer; and compounds such as moderator general in the Cistercian Order.
- Forum moderator, one who oversees discussions on an Internet forum.(Also called Bulletin Board Moderator)
- Neutron moderator, a medium that reduces the velocity of neutrons.
