Mngeni River

The Mgeni River is a river in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Its mouth is in Durban, where it was largely responsible for the formation of Durban's natural harbour. The river is approximately 232 km long with a catchment area of 4,432 kmĀ². There are 3 large dams on the Mgeni, they are the Midmar Dam, Albert Falls Dam and Inanda Dam. A noteworthy tributary is the Msunduzi River.
The anglicised name of the Mngeni river is the Umgeni River.
