Talk:MLS Cup
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
can anybody tell me what the heck the numbers in parentheses next to the team names are supposed to mean? it's not number of victories, number of appearances, or number of losses; at least, not as far as i can tell. -- Bcordes 22:18, Jun 24, 2004 (UTC)
- Those numbers are the score in the MLS Cup game. I've reconfigured the table to make this clear. --דוד ♣ D Monack 05:23, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
Shouldn't each 'MLS Cup have its own articles?

- No objections here. Have at it. --דוד ♣ D Monack 05:23, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
Hey, last year's MLS cup wasn't a sell out either was it? --Scaryice 07:42, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Concacaf Champions' Cup
Are we sure about the Cup runner-up getting the second berth if a single team has taken both the Cup and the Shield? I've heard it goes the other way - the runner-up for the Shield gets the second berth. That's what the Shield article says, anyhow. I'd try to look this up over at BigSoccer, but their search function seems to be kaput today. Bill Oaf 22:15, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- An anonymous user just changed it to "Supporters' Shield runner-up", and I'm taking their word for it until further notice/research. Bill Oaf 20:03, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] US Open Cup Info on MLS Cup Page
Hi All, the US Open Cup info of the MLS Cup Finalists has just been removed by user "12.166.53.130", I actually thought that there's no harm keeping the info, since it just provided another perpective on what were the other Major Domestic Honours these teams have also achieved.
The case in point was the 2003 season, where Chicago Fire almost won the Treble of USOC, Shield & MLS Cup, but fell at the last hurdle to SJ.
In 2005, LA Galaxy became the most successful team that season by winning the domestic double, despite having a dismal regular season.
I'll proceed to restore the article to the older version.

I have to disagree. Maybe that information can be sent to a MLS Double page or what not, but the extra information about the clubs' placing in the Supproters Schield and the US Open Cup makes the page incredibly unreadable. People are going to come here for a history of the MLS Cup Game, not a retrospective on the different seasons of various MLS teams. -Sousaisgood (Quakes fan! GO Orange Quakes!) Nov. 11.
I've edited the page to leave in only the information about the MLS Cup. Playoffs, Open Cup, Supporter's Shield information can all go elseware. Jsut because this is the MLS cup page does not make it a data dump for all things American Soccer Honors related. Sousaisgood 20:57, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Sousaisgood
[edit] Worst MLS Ccup winners
In the trivia section, the worst winners should be the 2004 DC United team, they had fewer points than the 2005 Galaxy. It should be done by PPG. --Scaryice 03:57, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Scudetto
if Toronto FC wins the MLS cup, will the scudetto still be an American flag? just asking because of the obvious fact that Toronto is in Canada and the team is predominantly Canadians.
