Mixed Company (Stanford University)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mixed Company is Stanford University's oldest co-ed a cappella group. Founded in 1985, their repertoire consists largely of popular music from the 1980s to the present, and the vast majority of songs are arranged by group members past and present. The group has sung on national radio and television (NPR and ESPN), and has toured all across the U.S.

Mixed Company has made eleven albums to date and has been repeatedly featured on Best of College A Capella (BOCA) albums. The group has also been honored with several awards from CASA (The Contemporary A Cappella Society).

[edit] Other

There are at least two other Mixed Company groups (at the time of this writing) -- one at Yale University which is older than Stanford's group by four years (see www.mixedco.net) and one at Swarthmore College. The three groups are not affiliated, although the Stanford and Yale groups performed together in 2005.
