Syndic Mitth'ras'safis (Thrass) of the Eighth Ruling Family was Mitth'raw'nuruodo's brother. He accompanied Admiral Ar'alani to Thrawn's base on Crustai. After his brother destroyed Outbound Flight he was among the boarding party of the ship. When Thrawn and all his soldiers were called out of the ship, he decided to stay, along with Jorj Car'das, because he was not mentioned in the summons. He met with Lorana Jinzler and learned that there were people still alive in the storage core. Agreeing that the people could not become prisoners of the Chiss, they decided to fly into a dense star cluster. Having Car'das depart, they flew the ship into the cluster where the hyperdrive went out.
Unable to maintain orbit, they were forced to crash land in a rock filled canyon. Unfortunately, the survivors in the storage core left for the dreadnaught opposite theirs. Having no other way to save the people, they landed with themselves on bottom and died.
Fifty years later, Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade Skywalker discover Thrass's charric lying in the rubble of the command bridge next to Lorana's lightsaber.
