The Mitsubishi Pajero Mini is a kei car produced by Mitsubishi Motors since December 1994. Based on the platform of the Minica but styled as a miniature version of the company's successful Pajero SUV, response to the SUV craze was introduced as the "Mitsubishi Pajero Mini", with its own dedicated platform featuring a shorter wheelbase, four wheel drive, and a choice of either of the four cylinder engines.
In November 1995 a larger version called the Mitsubishi Pajero Junior was introduced, with a similar basic body and equipped with a 1094 cc OHC 16v engine, along with a rear wheel drive only version of the Pajero Mini in January 1996.
The popularity of the vehicle inspired Mitsubishi to create several limited editions, including the "Pajero Mini Iron Cross", "Pajero Mini Desert Cruiser", "Pajero Mini White Skipper" and "Pajero Mini Duke". In October, 1998 the kei car regulations were again updated, and the "Pajero Mini" was widened and lengthened.
