Mitch Kern

Mitch Kern (b. 1965) American artist living in Canada whose work explores the relationship between the individual and society. Primarily uses photography and draws upon postmodern themes to critique Western culture as an institution of power. [[1]] Born and raised in New York City. Moved to Los Angeles as a teenager. Has an MFA in Photography from the Pennsylvania State University and an undergraduate degree in visual art from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Exhibits internationally and currently heads the photo department at the Alberta College of Art and Design. [[2]]
