Mitakata

Mitakata is also a place in Zambia and an ancient site named Mitakata Iseki near Osagami in Japan
Mitakata (Greek: Μιτακάτα) is a village located 8 km RSE of Argostoli and about 38 km W of Poros in the municipality of Livathos on the island of Kefalonia. Mitakata is linked with the road linking Travliata and Michata and are surrounded by the hills of Omalon with a taller one to the east and smaller hilltops elsewhere. Farmlands including olive groves, dry grasslands and pastures lies to the west and surround the village, pine forests lie southward and trees in other parts around Travliata. The panorama includes the Argostoli Gulf, northern Paliki and the town of Argostoli and further uphill, Lixouri which is seen in most areas.
Much of the population are rural and the main economy is based on agriculture with a few businesses. The income is in the middle range. Much of the population from the mid-20th century left for larger towns and mainly cities. The 1953 Ionian Earthquake destroyed every building in Mitakata that took months to rebuilt. The entire population that time as well as other parts of the island were homeless and part of the population left Mitakaa. The following years, Mitakata became linked with the paved roads. The population dropped to the today's level of 12 only, in the 1900s, the population used to be in the hundreds as was in other villages. Much of the residents' homes are mainly used in the summertime and are mainly former inhabitants of Mitakata.
