My dear Misza
My dear Misza, your extremely kind words and your beautiful gift mean so incredibly much to me, that I'm not sure I can express it properly. I'll display it with pride, you can count on it. I did notice your previous hard work on the Native American Portal, and your excellent work did it all much more clear and easy for me - and this is also the perfect oportunity to invite you to retouch it all you want. I hope this is but the beginning of a long friendship, since it's not everyday that I get approached out of the blue by one of the kindest Wikipedians I've ever seen. A big big hug, Phædriel ♥ tell me - 21:16, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Call for consensus on fan site list on Andy Murray page
Hello Misza13,
You've probably noticed my (probably foolhardy) attempt to resolve the edit war on the Andy Murray page regarding fansites. The protagonists do not look about to resolve it among themselves, so I'd appreciate it if you and other regular editors could express your views on this part of the page, so that we can stop the war going forward, or at least block a protagonist who persists in it. Please come to the talk page here
The questions I've put are:
Please can I have the opinions of those who regularly edit this site:
1.Should there be a list of fansites?
2.Should it be ordered
-
- a) alphabetically
-
- b) by site's popularity or quality
-
- c) by some other factor
3. If by popularity/quality how to judge this?
Thanks RobbieC 21:10, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- No thanks. I only reverted vandalism/Google Toolbar malfunction on that page and am certainly not interested in your edit war. Misza13 T C 21:38, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Deleting my edits
Dear Misza13,
Why did you delete my edits to User:Nathanrdotcom? 81.158.86.241 17:21, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Not to be rude but user pages are for users to tell the world about themselves and user talk pages are for other users to leave comments, not the reverse. — Nathan (talk) / 18:02, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Where did you learn python? GangstaEB (sliding logs~dive logs) 01:51, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- From books mainly. I started with Python. Pocket Reference, but it was too concise. Later, I studied some example code for the pywikipedia framework and finally bought Python Cookbook, which should now serve all my further needs (like Perl Cookbook does). Misza13 T C 15:34, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Poland question
I find it somewhat suprising - not in a negative way, just suprising - that a active editor from Poland, one who is now applying for adminship, seems to never involve himself with WP:PWNB...? Well, you added yourself to the participant list, but I don't recall you posting there. Any particular reason why?--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 18:50, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know. I'm usually so preoccupied with maintenance work (like reverting vandals) that I don't find time for "real" article editing, much less visiting our cabal's den. Moreover, whenever I read PWNB, I have a bad luck at finding issues with someone altering Poland-related articles in a sneaky way, and such edit wars just drive me away. I promise I'll try to improve, boss. ;-) Misza13 T C 19:12, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for the answer. Do what is most fun for you, wikignome work is much appreciated. Although I we need more users involved in some discussions, on the other hand, being less involved in some content disputes makes you a more neutral admin then I am - so feel free to keep on doing what you have. Wiki needs us all. Keep up the good work! PS. If you are familiar with bots, there is something related to geography of Poland Wikiproject and pl wiki that User:Balcer (IIRC) wanted to do, you may want to talk to him.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 01:49, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks for the thanks :). Sadly though, I think the rate of RFA supports has a strong inverse coralation to the amount of people who have already supported (now that is something that would probably be fun to fit a regression line to :) ). Still, I hope you get it anyway. Maybe more people would notice you if you changed your IRC nick to Misza13|rfa? Then again, people might oppose because of attempts to publicize your RFA if you did that. -- Where 22:22, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Nage drove ya
Yeah Meesh, you shoulda told me! I've been watching your talkpage for an RfA (I was too afraid of screwing up the nomination to nom you), and all of the sudden I'm passing thru WP:RfA and there's you! It was like the Twilight Zone.....your nomination was already halfway down the page! Best of luck as an admin!--The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 19:53, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, advertising one's RfA has been frowned upon in the past, so I chose to keep a low profile. All I did was actually changing the "Admin hopeful" userbox on my main userpage to "Admin nominee" (even that's hard to spot, since they're all rolled up). I'm glad you found it anyway. I have {{User:Dragons flight/RFA summary}} transcluded on my Desk, so it's harder to miss someone I'd care to vote for, BTW. Misza13 T C 20:32, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

- Misza13: I try to AGF but I think that vote may be against the spirit of the RFA process (although I'm not expert, so I'm not sure). I heard that sometimes people asked 'crats if this was the case, and, if so, obtained permission to cross such votes out; maybe you should ask? On the other hand, maybe doing so would cause wikiStrife, and thus may not be worth it. Just something to think about. -- Where 20:24, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Totally not worth the potential fuss. I'll leave it be. BTW, the RfA is now 2.5 hrs after deadline. Where's the 'crats when you need one? :-P *Considers an RfB to speed it up...* Misza13 T C 20:34, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

My heartiest congratulations on a successful candidacy! I now realise that I shouldn't have supported at your RfA. As Shannon says, the fact that so many people support you clearly shows that you are not suitable for adminship. --David Mestel(Talk) 16:27, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- Could you please explain what in the world has the ammount of support votes to do with suitability for adminship? This is just beyond my understanding... Misza13 T C 16:34, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think that he felt that the large number of supports showed that you had rigged the RfA. However, given the large number of entries on WP:100, this is patently false. --David Mestel(Talk) 17:39, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

congrats on becoming an admin and thx for the thank you note, thought i'd mention there's a typo in it... the word "to" is missing in the first few words: "Thank you for contributing the impressive the pile of supports" Themindset 16:57, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. That's not the only error in the message though. But it's also loaded with pranks of some kinds. ;-) Misza13 T C 17:00, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Another typo ... you didn't get the support/oppose vote count correct. You used 0x, implying hexadecimal, but the number you gave in hexadecimal doesn't even come close to matching the actual number of support votes you got ... Cyde↔Weys 17:39, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- That's exactly what I had in mind above. When the RfA was about to close, it was 127 and then I made the error, writing 0xFF instead 0x7F when composing it. Then 5 more votes came in and you can figure the 0x0104 now. :) Misza13 T C 17:42, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Protection
A few pointers:
- The article featured on the Main Page should not be protected. Many edits (and much vandalism) is to be expected, and protection is not the answer. Although opinions on this do vary, the consensus on Wikipedia:Protection policy is that we benefit more from people being able to edit these articles than we suffer from having them vandalized (past history consistently shows articles improving from their exposure on the Main Page, even if it also takes continuous reverting of vandalism).
- If you do protect an article, please follow the guidelines at Wikipedia:Protection policy. In particular, add the page to the list of protected pages specifying a reason, and place the appropriate protection template at the top of the article. This helps editors to recognize what's going on, and it allows the wikignomes to find and unprotect pages that have been protected for too long.
Protection is a powerful tool; use it sparingly. It makes our lives easier, but that's not its primary purpose. JRM · Talk 21:27, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- Cryptography was getting a hard beating for the last few hours with no good edits in sight (FA articles don't need much innovative edits anyway). I also didn't put the {{sprotected}} template, because it's too ugly for a Main Page article. (A pretty of a dilemma here, huh?) But thanks for the guidelines. I'll keep them in mind and will "revert till doomsday". ;-) Misza13 T C 21:56, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- The guideline isn't really what the ratio of good to bad edits is (because if that were the case, countless pages that are rarely edited would "deserve" protection), but how much trouble we have keeping up with them. The Main Page article will get hammered by vandals hard, but it will also be closely watched by the RC patrollers. When the smoke clears, the article is usually no worse for the wear, and has typically picked up a few improvements from casually visiting experts (yes, we get those too, not just 12-year-olds making asses of themselves :-) that our regular contributors simply missed. That "FA articles don't need much innovative edits" is quite correct, but nobody is asking for "innovative" edits. Any good edit will do! Don't think that a featured article is "finished"—it's a little more stable than a non-featured article, but that's all. FAs can be and are regularly improved, sometimes quite drastically (don't take my word for it; watch some for a longer time).
- Basically, though, you can think of it as a PR issue. We advertise as "the free encyclopedia anyone can edit". Imagine new editors going to the first article they see, and finding out they can't edit it... Being "the free encyclopedia anyone can edit, if not too many people are actually doing it, because then we can't really be bothered to keep things in shape" doesn't sound half as impressive (and worse, it will make people think that Wikipedia doesn't work after all, since we apparently can't handle vandalism). Keeping the featured article unprotected is a kind of public service, one that we've had no trouble providing in the past. JRM · Talk 22:19, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

I haven't had time to contribute lately, but I've been checking WP:RCA and a few other pages occasionally. I'm glad to see that you were approved for adminship. Please keep up the good work. --TantalumTelluride 19:46, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
On blocking users
Hi, the next time you block a user, could you remember to leave a note on their talk page telling them (and others) why? It's helpful documentation for both the blocked user and other admins. --Improv 20:37, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Which user in particular do you mean? I thought I did leave tags either on talks (in case of IPs - unless it's a 15' AOL block) or on User: (in the case of indef vandals-only accounts). If I have missed some though, I'll be more thorough then. Misza13 T C 20:43, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- My apologies. In digging through the user's talk page, I found the warning -- it was up higher than I thought it was due to considerable talk since. Take care. --Improv 04:19, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Please take care blocking User:Stefanalexei. It's an AOL dynamic ISP, so blocks should be kept very short (I've been blocked as collateral damage six times already today on this address. jimfbleak 12:11, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- The problem with blocking users is that when a username is blocked, the IP behind it is autoblocked, and for privacy reasons we as administrators are not given the IP address so we can manually unblock it seperately. If you report the block # (it'll say #1246432 or something) and request that # unblocked, we can do that seperately. Thank you for your understanding. :) ~Kylu (u|t) 03:07, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
He
Why are you saying that I vandalized he removed all of my userboxes and I can't remove stuff from his page. --So Fresh and So Clean_Wish U Was Me 19:53, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- I checked his edits and couldn't find where did he remove any userboxes. Show me the diffs, please. Misza13 T C 19:54, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Please
Please Can you just mind your business. Please, no offense, no disrespect. --So Fresh and So Clean_Wish U Was Me 20:25, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's not about minding my business. Your behaviour is disruptive and that's unacceptable, thus I'm intervening. Misza13 T C 20:26, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks!
I cannot thank you enough for helping me, and the rest of the WikiCommunity in battling the Kitten Vandal. You have repeatedly blocked sockpuppets of the vandal before I can even load the WP:AIV page! Just a side note: any sockpuppets that you see, please add them to WP:LTA, under 'Kitten Vandal', as that will aid the investigation. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Richard0612 (talk • contribs) 20:58, 26 July 2006 (UTC).
- I was watching the new new user log, so I was able to catch some of them before they even contributed. And in reporting them, you edit-conficted with me. :) And by the way, remember to sign your posts with ~~~~. Happy editing! Misza13 T C 21:09, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Request
Hi, i would like to vandalize both your user page and your user talk page but first i thought it would be civil to ask for your permission. so, is that ok?222.238.185.84 13:20, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- Nice of you to ask, but no. Misza13 T C 16:40, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
GG?
It's nice to be able to keep in touch via GG in some cases. You can find my number at my user page, and most of our noticeboard users are active on that network.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus talk 15:11, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I used it in the past, but not anymore for a few months. Actually, I use Skype more often (but still very rarely). The best way to catch me real-time is IRC. I'm in about 10 WikiMedia-related channels. Misza13 T C 16:44, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
Kitten Vandal
I have created a subpage on WP:LTA about the Kitten Vandal, after enquiring on the talk page, and feeling that it would be easier for users and admins to act if a MO and actions were listed. As you have helped a great deal on this issue, I thought it only polite to inform you of the new page. Any further information about the KV can be put here. ><Richard0612 12:29, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Archive
Why did u moved my archive? it is my right to choose where to put it as long as its content is available to everyone.89.32.1.82 18:51, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- That is not the case. It must be a subpage off of your userspace. --Yamla 18:54, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
IRC
How can a person get on IRC? I am too stupid to figure it out... GangstaEB help me improve! 20:53, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- You need an IRC client. The choice is varied, depending on your configuration. If you're using Firefox, then probably a best start would be to install the ChatZilla extension. You should be able to find some instructions (how to configure it, connect) on its website. A good tutorial site on IRC in general is available at http://www.irchelp.org Misza13 T C 21:06, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
