Former Route 62 was one of the original 1922 highways. It was decommissioned in 1930 to avoid duplication with a newly-created U.S. Route 62 which came through the state. It is currently part of Route 8.

Missouri 62's eastern terminus was at Route 21 in Potosi, its western terminus was at Route 19 in Steelville.
