Mission High School is located on 18th street between Dolores and Church streets, across the street from Dolores Park, adjacent to both the Castro District and the Mission District. The school is two blocks from Mission Dolores and is part of the San Francisco Unified School District.

The current main school building, architecturally-influenced by the Mission Revival Style was built in 1924 although the high school itself predates this building by over two decades.
