The Missile Frigate is a photon missile-carrying ship in the fictional TradeWars 2002 universe.
Like the Tholian Sentinel, the Frigate is a special-purpose ship with poor trading efficiency. Its main advantage is its ability to carry photon missiles. The Frigate is the only option available for evil players wanting to use this weapon, unless they illegally possess an Imperial StarShip.
Lacking scanning capabilities of any kind, it is vulnerable to being blindsided and thus usually is reserved for special missions. The usual strategy is to fire the photon missile, then teleport to another ship and continue the attack. Travelling blind with a photon missile is dangerous, due to the risk of hitting fighters or debris that will cause the missile to detonate.
