The Miss Earth 2006 pageant, in its sixth year, took place on November 26, 2006 in The Philippines. Santiago, Chile was originally scheduled to hold the event on November 15, but the Chilean organizers did not meet requirements and lacked the support needed to pull off the pageant. In the end, Carousel Productions decided to hold the pageant again in the Philippines, with less than two months to prepare for the event.
More than 100 contestants were expected to come, but only 82 nations were confirmed to participate this year. Nevertheless, it was still the highest turn-out for the event.
Despite Chile being unable to host the pageant, their candidate, Hil Hernández won the title. Crowned as Miss Earth-Air (1st RU) was Miss India, Amruta Patki. She also bagged the Best in Long Gown award. Miss Philippines, Catherine Untalan took Miss Earth-Water. Finishing as 3rd runner up, known as Miss Earth-Fire was Miss Venezuela, Marianne Puglia. She also won the Best in Swimsuit award.
