Miranda Cooper

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Miranda Cooper is a member of the UK-based Xenomania writing and production team founded by Brian Higgins. She has co-written hits for pop acts such as Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Kylie Minogue, V and Abs.

In 2000, Cooper was launched by London Records as a solo artist under the name Moonbaby. Her debut single "Here We Go" did not enter the UK single chart's top 75, and her solo career came to an end. A four track promotional album sampler was issued, but the album that it was meant to promote was never released.

Moonbaby songs have appeared on releases by other artists. The single "Here We Go" has been recorded by two other artists: Lene (former lead singer of Aqua) who released the track on her 2003 album "Play With Me", and Girls Aloud who included it on their 2004 album "What Will The Neighbours Say?". Additionally, Girls Aloud recorded a track from the Moonbaby Sampler called "Deadlines and Diets" for the same album.

[edit] Trivia

When released by Moonbaby, the track "Here We Go" was credited as being written by Moonbaby, Brian Higgins and Matt Gray. The track was then re-recorded by Lene, where it was credited to Mirander Cooper (aka. Moonbaby), Brian Higgins, Matt Gray and Lene - despite the fact that no alterations appear to have been made to the song's lyrics or music. The Girls Aloud release reverted back to the original Cooper / Higgins / Gray credit. It would appear that Lene's credit on her release of the track was a vanity credit, and that she made no contribution to the song's writing. "Here We Go" is also the basis for the theme song to the television cartoon series, Totally Spies.
