Miranda, California

Miranda is a small town in Southern Humboldt County, California. It is near the southern entrance to the Avenue of the Giants. Miranda is home to the main high school of Southern Humboldt Unified School District, South Fork High School. The school's name refers to the South Fork of the Eel River. The alternative school Osprey is located on the campus of the extinct Miranda Junior High. The town was named by a former post mistress. The town is with a five minute walk of the south fork of the Eel River, amidst giant redwood trees. Miranda is on the Avenue of the Giants between Myers Flat to the north and Phillipsville to the south. The town has a post office, two restaurants, a motel, a market, a gas station, and a gift shop. There is also a glass gallery one mile south of Miranda near where the Avenue of the Giants connects with Highway 101.
