Mir Yannick

Mir Yannick is a fictional character from the Zork universe and the villain in Zork Grand Inquisitor.
In his youth, Mir Yannick was a roommate of Dalboz of Gurth at G.U.E. Tech. He likely had behavoiral problems, as a bottle of Prozork could be found in his locker.
In 1033 GUE, he discovered the long lost Totermizer Machine. When he showed the machine to his supervisor, he was promoted from Junior Executive Maniacal Zealot' to Senior Executive Maniacal Zealot.
Four years later, in 1037 GUE, he discovered Dalboz's plan to use the Time Tunnels to find the lost artifacts of Zork. He totemized one of Dalboz's associates, Griff, and dumpes the totem down a well. Around this time, Brog, an especially dim-witted Brogmoid, managed to get into the machine and accidentally totemize himself.
In 1046 GUE, Yannick was promoted to the position or Vice President of Unreasoning Zeal a position that answers only to the Grand Inquisitor himself. Later that year, the Grand Inquisitor tragically died. According to Yannick, the only witness, he'd accidentally blugeoned himself to death during a meeting between the two. In 1047 GUE, Yannick was named Grand Inquisitor. The following year, 1048 GUE, was also a tragic year, for Syovar III died. According to Yannick, again the only witness, he accidentally strangles himself.
Yannick declared himself the Sovereign of Quendor, which he renamed the Theocracy of Quendor. He also became head of the Frobozz Magic Company (the conglomerate which owns all the specialized items in the Zork games), renaming it Frobozz Electric.
In 1050 GUE, he would go on to kill Dalboz by extracting his spirit from his body with a magical spray. This spirit somehow found it's way to a rusty old lamp under the dock at Port Foozle. This is a reference to the recurring lamp which is integral to much of the Zork franchise.
In 1058 GUE, Yannick captured Lucy Flathead, a member of the Magic Resistance, arresting her for defacing Inquisition propaganda. He'd realized that she was the rightful heir to the Flathead Dynasty and the Empire of Quendor, and so he sentences her to totemization.
In the game Zork Grand Inquisitor, Yannick plots to brainwash all of Quendor, but the adventurer (with the help of Dalboz, Griff, Brog, and Lucy) uses the Time Tunnels to gather the lost artifacts, and tries to use them to stop him. Yannick climbs to the top of a large sattelite tower to stop this, but the ensuing magical blast from the artifacts' use causes him to lose his grip and fall to his death. Lucy is restored as the rightful Queen of Quendor.
Yannick's ghost would later incite the Magic Wars which pitted the Eastlands against the Westlands.
