cDVD is just DVD mpeg2 content recorded onto a normal CD-ROM.

mini-DVD are 8cm DVD discs.

Nope, it's a miniDVD-based setup. You can actually burn an image to a miniDVD and have it boot so long as you have a way to bypass the copy protection system (eg. modchip or GCoS)

I won't actually link to the method as it's a DMCA thing, but it's available if you spend five minutes on Google. Just go past the old stuff saying it was impossible in 2004.
