[edit] Amy Benson

Amy Benson is a character in the sixth Harry Potter book (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J. K. Rowling), who is a distant acquaintance of Tom Riddle, the boy who became Harry Potter's enemy Lord Voldemort (known as He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named in wizard society). Not much information is given about the girl, simply that she lived in the same orphanage as Tom Riddle, and that after an incident with the young Lord Voldemort in a sea-side cave, she and another boy named Dennis Bishop (also an orphan), were never the same. She has also been speculated by fans to be the mysterious R.A.B.

[edit] Stubby Boardman

Stubby Boardman was the lead singer of a singing group named The Hobgoblins who "retired from public life after being struck in the ear by a turnip". In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix there is an article in The Quibbler where a witch claims that Sirius Black is a pseudonym used by Stubby Boardman.

[edit] Caractacus Burke

Harry Potter character
Caractacus Burke
Gender Male
Parentage Unknown, but probably pure-blood
Actor None yet
First appearance Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Caractacus Burke is an owner of the shop Borgin and Burkes in the Harry Potter series, and has been known to have tricked Merope Gaunt into selling Salazar Slytherin's locket for only 10 galleons. Dumbledore once mentioned that Burke was not known for his generosity. He is referred to as a small old man, revolving slowly in the Pensieve, silver as a ghost but much more solid, with a thatch of hair that completely covered his eyes.

Caractacus is the Latin form of the Welsh name Caradoc, which, ironically, is the first name of dead Order of the Phoenix member Caradoc Dearborn. Caractacus was a King of the Britons who held out against Claudius' invasion in 43AD.

A relative, Herbert Burke, married Belvina Black. They had two sons and one daughter. The timeframe is right for their children to have been Caractacus Burke and the other Burke or Burkes involved in founding the store.

Bane was first depicted in the book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on page 257 (page 185 of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Paperback) when Bane and Firenze foretell Harry Potter’s future by reading the stars; “Remember, Firenze we are sworn not to set ourselves against the heavens. Have you not read what is to come in the movement of the planets?”.

He's described as speaking with a doleful tone, and seems rather peaceful compared to other centaurs.

[edit] Herbert Chorley

Herbert Chorley was a Junior Minister in the Muggle Government of Great Britain. The Death Eaters attempted to place him under the Imperius Curse, to use him as a spy against the Muggle government. However, the spell was botched, and Chorley went mad: he began quacking like a duck. The Prime Minister recommended that Chorley take some rest and "go easy on the drink"; the Minister for Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour, had him taken into care in St Mungo's hospital. In the process, Chorley attempted to strangle three Healers.

Crospin Conk is one of wizards in "Famous Witches and Wizards Cards", found in the Chocolate Frogs sweets. He was sent to Azkaban for keeping sphinxes in his back garden.

[edit] Florean Fortescue

Florean Fortescue runs an ice cream parlour in Diagon Alley. He appears to be very kind to Harry in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and even gives him free sundaes every half-hour. May be related to Fortescue, a former Hogwarts headmaster. He disappeared in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

[edit] Fridwulfa

Harry Potter character
Fridwulfa

Eye colour Black

[edit] Miranda Goshawk

Miranda Goshawk wrote the series of textbooks entitled The Standard Book Of Spells (there are at least six books, entitled Grades One to Six; there is likely to be a Grade Seven textbook).

[edit] Eloise Midgen

Eloise Midgen is a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is generally assumed that she is in Harry's year, although her House is unclear. Evidence greatly suggests that Eloise is a member of Hufflepuff, as she has been spoken of most familiarly by members of that house. [citation needed] In the Goblet of Fire film she is said to be in Gryffindor, though the canonical accuracy of the films is not consistent.

Unfortunately, Eloise suffers from severe acne. In a Herbology lesson in The Goblet of Fire, Professor Sprout suggests that the use of diluted Bubotuber Pus is an effective way to treat the skin problem. Another student then mentions that Eloise tried to curse her acne off, but accidentally severed her nose. The school nurse, Madam Pomfrey, managed to fix the nose back on.

Later in the same book, when searching for dates for the Yule Ball, Ron scoffs Eloise saying that "her nose is off-centre" - implying that Madam Pomfrey didn't or couldn't fix it back perfectly. Not much is known about her, but Hermione insists that she is a very nice person.

The next reference to Eloise is in The Order of the Phoenix. Hermione puts a jinx on a contract for Dumbledore's Army; if anyone signed the contract but then betrayed the organisation, the curse that would act upon them would make Eloise's acne look like "cute freckles" by comparison.

In the Second War, the wizarding world is under daily threat of assault and murder from Voldemort's Death Eaters, and as the death toll rises, along with the number of attacks, several students are pulled out of school, although Hogwarts is relatively safe. Eloise Midgen's father came to school to collect her in the October of her sixth year.

In the film of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Ron says to Seamus, "Something's about to burst out of Eloise Midgen, too, and I don't think that it's a swan."

[edit] Ragnok

Ragnok is a goblin who apparently works with Bill Weasley at Gringotts (possibly in Egypt). According to Bill Weasley he is "feeling pretty anti-wizard at the moment" because Ludo Bagman had apparently gambled with him and he [Ragnok] thought that the Ministry of Magic was covering up for Ludo Bagman. His name is probably derived from Ragnorok.

He also appears briefly in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at the Quidditch World Cup, boasting to veela, the Bulgarian team's official mascot, about his ambitious plans to become the next Minister of Magic. Shunpike appears again in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Stan Shunpike is arrested on suspicion of Death Eater activity. However, Harry and Dumbledore believe him to have been making untruthful boasts, as he had been known to do in the past. Even so, he is kept in Azkaban in order for the Ministry of Magic to look like progress is being made in the capturing of Death Eaters.

Hippocrates Smethwyck's only appearance is in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as the Healer-in-Charge of the "Dai Llewellyn Ward: Serious bites" at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.

[edit] Bridget Wenlock

Bridget Wenlock (12021285) She does not appear in any of the books or films, but was featured in Wizard of the Month at Rowling's official site in August 2005.

All that is known about her, apart from her name and when she lived, is that she was a famous arithmancer and "the first to establish the magical properties of the number seven," as said by Rowling on her website. Rowling has favoured the number 7. There are 7 years in Hogwarts, 7 Weasley siblings, Voldermort's soul split into 7 parts, 7 locks on Moody's trunk, 7 players in a team for Quidditch, and 7 books in the Harry Potter series. Even Bridget Wenlock's first and last name both have 7 letters in them.

Bridget Wenlock, Felix Summerbee, Gaspard Shingleton and Crispin Conk are all Famous Witches and Wizards Cards in the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets PC game.
