Minneapolis Steel & Machinery

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Minneapolis Steel & Machinery Company was located at and around the intersection of East 29th street and Minnehaha Avenue, near the triangle-shaped Longfellow Field (now gone). It was one of the companies that merged into the Minneapolis-Moline tractor company. All but one of the buildings in the old factory complex were leveled in the 1970's; the building that survives was originally a two story brick "garage" and engineering facility, where prototypes for the "Jeep" were invented and implemented for use in World War I. 7-SIGMA Incorporated now occupies the building.
