India's Ministry of Power is primarily engaged in the production of electricity in India. It generally oversees construction and maintenance projects.
India faces challenges in electrical supply and delivery, and is often unable to meet demand, even in very large cities.
This Ministry is engaged in development of the infrastructure for safe and cost-effective electricity generation, transmission, and delivery. It acts as liaison between the central government and state electricity operation, as well as interfaces with the private sector.
