Ministries of the First Dáil

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ministry was the cabinet of the Irish Republic. Two ministries came to office during the life of the First Dáil. The First Ministry was a temporary cabinet headed by Cathal Brugha, because Éamon de Valera, the leader of Sinn Féin, was in gaol at the time. In April, 1919 de Valera became Príomh Aire and headed the Second Ministry. The First Dáil was elected on 18 December 1918 and first met on 21 January 1919. It lasted for 892 days.
