Minisink Valley High School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Minisink Valley High School is a secondary school located in Slate Hill, New York. It contains an enrollment of approximately 1600 students, making it one of the larger high schools in Orange County, New York. The school, part of the Minisink Valley Central School District, was established in 1958 as a secondary school for grades 7-10. However, in the 1959-60 school year, a junior class was established, which became the first class to graduate in June of 1961. Over the next decade, enrollment in the school increased so rapidly that in 1971, a bond was passed by local residents to build a new high school adjacent to the original school building. The high school was then completed in 1974, and provided a comfortable home for the upperclassmen of the district. It is now home of the Warriors. The district currently offers a plethora of sports and activities such as an Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. which is lead by the students in the program and supervised by SAI Colonel Berstein and AI Command Sergeant Major Van Wagner. Although the program isn't very popular among the student body, it is certainly the most awesome after school activity and consists of the most hard-working and motivated kids in the district. It definately cannot fit in a textbook.
Hooah Alpha.
Other electives include the award-winning Women's Chorus, Mixed Chorus and Chamber Choir, led by the legendary Victor Izzo. This program is made of the most passionate students who live and breathe music. The Drama Club consists of mostly chours members and Tech Crew members, but very enjoyable to be in. The plays and musicals are not one to miss, for they are all memoriable. None of this could be possible without the Tech Crew, who provide the sound, lights and basic eletronic workings of everything in the auditorium, and the AJROTC Color Guard who present the colors before every performance.
