[edit] Biography
All of a sudden the buzz was there: "The new big promise" (Rocktribune), "Jesus, what a lovely violence" (Music Maker), and "Probably not long without a record deal" (UP Magazine). But what was all the excitement about? Answer: The release of the EP "Under Your Skin", the second CD from ‘that band from Maastricht’, Mindfold. They have already played the internationally renowned Pinkpop Festival...will they have their big breakthrough this year?
Influenced by bands such as Chevelle, Dredg, Hell is for Heroes, Far and Strata, there is only one thing important to Mindfold, and that is, according to the band’s vocalist, Remco Essers, "To make a statement with your own music - your performance in that venue, or your CD in that stereo! To involve and respect the listeners, and to keep that passion at the highest possible level. That matters to us." And so far, it's working, judging by the growing amount of fans in the venues and on the internet.
The dedication of Mindfold pays off. The last two years have gone by extremely fast, and have given Mindfold many successful shows in famous Dutch venues such as: Paradiso, Melkweg, Het Paard, 013 and Vera. They have also been a triumphant support act for many well-known bands, for example: Dredg (USA), Face Tomorrow (NL), Intwine (NL) and The Appleseed Cast (USA).
Other achievements include: Local Hero Status for LiveXS, a spot at the Eurosonic/Noorderslag festival in the Simplon venue, and the winner of "Nu of Nooit", THE band contest of Limburg!
Singer Remco explains, "Mindfold started out a few years ago, and originated from four best friends with one passion. Everyone gives 110% in every way - less is not an option. The band quickly grew into a well oiled machine, live and on CD!"
This reputation is again immediately confirmed with a UK tour booked in February 2006 containing 7 shows. Their highly anticipated debut album ‘Long Roads’ will have its release on Squash Records with a worldwide distribution deal in March 2006. And this is only the beginning…
