Minamitakaki District, Nagasaki

Minamitakaki (南高来郡; -gun) was a district located in Nagasaki, Japan.
The district is equivalent to the cities of Shimabara, Unzen, and Minamishimabara.
As of 2003, the district has an estimated population of 117,639 and a density of 293.97 persons per km². The total area is 400.18 km².

[edit] Mergers
- On October 11, 2005, the towns of Aino, Azuma, Chidiwa, Kunimi, Mizuho, Obama and Minamikushiyama merged to form the new city of Unzen.
- On January 1, 2006, the town of Ariake merged into the city of Shimabara.
- The District was dissolved on March 31, 2006, when the remaining municipalities merged to form the new city of Minamishimabara.
