Milton District Hospital or MDH is a modern community hospital built on 30 acres of land, located in Milton, Ontario, Canada. It offers a wide range of primary care services, its major areas of clinical emphasis include emergency, obstetrics, general medicine, ICU, surgery, rehabilitation, and complex continuing care. It is operated by Halton Healthcare Services, a nonprofit group of hospiatls which also operates Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and Georgetown Hospital.
Audiology, speech pathology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, cardio-respiratory services and laboratory services support both inpatient and outpatient programs.
The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, together with the outpatient department provides care to more than 37,000 patients annually.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, MDH has been very successful in attracting both family physicians and a full complement of specialists to Milton.
The population of Milton is expected to increase to approximately 68,100 by 2008. HHS has submitted a Master Plan for the MDH site to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for a $78 million expansion and renovation.
