Millwall Dock
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Millwall Dock is a part of the Isle of Dogs, or what is more generally known as the Docklands area, in the East End of London. The original Millwall Dock was constructed by John Aird & Co to a design by Sir John Fowler and opened in 1868.
Millwall Dock is a commercial business district that includes office towers housing technology and financial companies. Millwall Dock is also an area where several lavish apartment towers have been developed. There is a marked contrast between the newly established living and working areas and the older neighbouring developments in the area.
Millwall Dock lies near the centre of the Isle of Dogs, just south of the more highly developed Canary Wharf commercial business area. South of Millwall Dock and across the River Thames is Greenwich.
There are two Docklands Light Railway stations serving the Millwall Dock, South Quay and Crossharbour and London Arena.
