Milford High School (Michigan)

Milford High School, a member of the Huron Valley School District, includes grades 9-12 and is located in Highland, Michigan, in Oakland County, Michigan. The athletic teams were called the Redskins until administrators, in cooperation with outspoken native American students and organizations, decided to change the name during the 2002-2003 school year. The new athletic team name—the Mavericks—was adopted after it won a plurality in a school-wide student vote.

The school colors are maroon and white. It was founded in 1869.

The school has a successful athletic department with several sports teams exceeding at local, state, regional and national levels. The H.O.T. (Heroes of Tomorrow) robotics team, with the extensive help of General Motors engineers, finished 1st at the 2005 FIRST robotics competition Championship Event. The Milford High School Marching Band has had many top finishes in regional and national levels. The football team is considered one of the best in the Kensington Valley Conference (KVC), which contains schools around southeastern Michigan.

The school's business oriented club, DECA, is also very successful with many of its students reaching national competition. The club is based on the students' knowledge of business related skills such as marketing and accounting.

Its current principal as of September 2006 is Mr. Mike Krystyniak.
