Mile One Centre (Formerly Mile One Stadium) opened in 2001 as the home of the American Hockey League's St. John's Maple Leafs, replacing Memorial Stadium. The arena has hosted the 2002 AHL All-Star Game and 2005 Scott Tournament of Hearts. The arena is located at the beginning of the Trans-Canada Highway, hence the name, Mile One. The "Baby Leafs" became the Toronto Marlies in 2005, and were replaced by the St. John's Fog Devils, an expansion team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The arena also hosts the annual Herder Cup tournament, the largest hockey tournament in the province. The arena seats 6,247.
