The Millau Viaduct crossing the River Tarn in the south of France is the highest bridge in the world. Due for completion in 2005.

At its heighest, the 2.5 km road deck is 235 metres above the valley floor. The towers extend a further 90 metres above the road. At 325 metres (1066 ft) they rival some of the tallest towers in the world — if placed in New York, only the Empire State Building would be taller.

As of 2004 the towers and road deck have been completed.

This is a computer visualisation of the finished bridge.

This work is copyrighted and unlicensed. It does not fall into one of the blanket fair use categories listed at Wikipedia:Fair use#Images or Wikipedia:Fair use#Audio_clips. However, it is believed that the use of this work in the article "Foster and Partners":

  • To illustrate the object in question
  • Where no free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information
  • On the English-language Wikipedia ([1]), hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation ([2]),

qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Copyrights.

To the uploader: this tag is not a sufficient claim of fair use. You must also include the source of the work, all available copyright information, and a detailed fair use rationale.

This image is used under a fair use rationale, but may fail Wikipedia's first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a free image that provides substantially the same information might reasonably be found or created. See the talk page for details.

If you believe that a free replacement image can not be reasonably found or created, please add the following to this page:

{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}

If this image is determined to be replaceable within one week from (5 December 2006) (12 December), the image may be deleted by any administrator. Do not remove this tag.

Tagger: If this image has, at the time of tagging, a rationale explaining why it is irreplaceable, please do not forget to explain on the talk page why you think that rationale is not valid. Tags applied in contravention of this requirement may be removed; if a rationale is added after the tagging, the normal process for disputing a tag should be followed. After adding this tag, please notify the uploader with
{{subst:replaceable|MillauViaduct.jpg}} ~~~~
Also consider adding:
{{subst:refu-c}}
to the caption in article(s) the image is used to give a little advance warning that a free licensed replacement should be sought after. Adding {{reqphoto}}, or one of the more specific image request templates (listed on the reqphoto template page), to the article's talk page may also be helpful if there are no other images in the article already.
