[edit] Sorry about that

I noticed what you did, tried to edit it at the same time...Whoops...Yea, I agree with the redirect now.

[edit] Much belated thanks.

Thanks for your support of my RFA almost a month ago! Unfortunately, a family situation arose suddenly at that time that took a lot of my time and energy. Things are getting a little more normal now so I hope to be a more active admin. Best, FreplySpang (talk) 23:21, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] You scared me

I'm sleepy, when I come across a user I've never heared of poping up on my watchlist. For a moment I think I've finaly lost it, I'm borderline crazy anyway you know (Who else would dedicate so much time to Marshall and Elagabalus). Any way, welcome to to your new account name. Have you made a decision about joining the WikiProject yet, I'd rather have user who were solid contributors who are passively interested in the project than users who are wholeheartedly interested but only passive contributors. Exuse erroros, already asleep. -JCarriker 05:29, Jun 25, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship under new name

Hi! On My talk page User:Sj asked me to de-admin your old user name and give you admin powers on your new user name. I notice on Wikipedia:List of administrators that your new name is already listed and your old name is not. So I wanted to ask: Has this already been taken care of? Would you like me to do so? If the respective answers are no and yes, tell me and I'll take care of it. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 14:06, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] John Peyton

Hi, I noticed a bit of a problem with the John Peyton page. The article's about the Mayor of Jacksonville, but some of the links to it refer to the former British politician of the same name.

It's probably worth having a Disambiguation page for the name and then have two pages John Peyton (British politician) and John Peyton (U.S. politician) but I don't feel comfortable about wiki editing yet to attempt it.

Can you set things up with the moving and disambiguation and I'll fill up the information about the British John Peyton.

[edit] Hey, Mike Halterman/Custom of Life

I know you've never heard of me, but I have seen your user name quite a few times in the past and I have finally decided to post a message. First, I'd like to say that me and you have a lot in common. I am going to USF this fall (St. Pete campus); I've graduated from IB...and I've just changed my user name too.

Anyway, the Wikipedia related thing is concerning my St. Petersburg High School article. Perhaps you know a bit more about it. Please help. Thanks. Horatii 30 June 2005 02:36 (UTC)

My mistake, I thought you went to St. Pete. No I haven't heard of the "face book" but thanks for the heads up. User:Horatii,

[edit] Tom Swift

I applaud your locking the Tom Swift Jr. page until this weird dispute can be resolved. Please be aware that the same anonymous indivisual is doing the same thing to Tom Swift, Tom Swift III, Tom Swift IV and the Hardy Boys. If these pages could be reverted (if needed) to include all links and locked for a while, I'm sure this dispute could be solved (well I hope so anyway). Thanks! :)--FWDixon 5 July 2005 14:59 (UTC)

That idiot is at it again :(

  • RMedford (talkcontribslogsblock userblock log) - Goes around removing links from various pages Stratemeyer Syndicate, Nancy Drew, among others. Has been on these vandalizing jags before with Hardy Boys and the various Tom Swift pages. Seems to have a special affinity for removing links to my site but sometimes does wholesale removal of all external links. Will not discuss his motivations on the talk pages. Request this user be banned or the pages be reverted (if neccesary) and protected. Sigh...--FWDixon 13:54, 16 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Did You Know?

Sonofagun, you did it again, ol' buddy! The Cameron Matheson article made the main page! I'm surprised there wasn't an article on him before. I remember seeing him at a Super Soap Weekend and he seemed like a terrific guy. A real fan favorite. Stay in touch...miss ya! - Lucky 6.9 5 July 2005 17:06 (UTC)

Looks good. I remember the "Cliff and Nina" days well. I admit to really liking her. That's about the time I got semi-involved in that show. Speaking of AMC, is it me or is this whole "Return of Dixie" storyline kind of...weird? - Lucky 6.9 5 July 2005 17:58 (UTC)

LOL! Oh, that's funny! Nowhere but a soap opera would these sorts of things happen. Getting off track a moment, we have a pesky little vandal coming in through AOL proxies the last couple of days. He leaves the same message, something like "DROP DEAD - thank you and good night." A real looney tune. Can you block him, at least for a short time? - Lucky 6.9 5 July 2005 18:07 (UTC)

I can dig it. Someone will open fire on the idiot. Just a matter of time. Tried leaving word on the talk page but, like the Bandit of old, I'm probably talking to myself. Sigh... - Lucky 6.9 5 July 2005 18:20 (UTC)

  • Dude...you been bizzy!! Technical question: The damned wiki signed me out before I started a new article called Eagle Mountain, California. Any way to change the attribution to me, like by deleting this and allowing me to cut and paste it back? - Lucky 6.9 9 July 2005 03:15 (UTC)

[edit] Cats for us

Since the British have there own category UK Wikipedians. I'm thinking of creating two other user categories: one based on culture US Southern Wikipedians and the other on generation Millenial Wikipedians (people born in the 1980s and 1990s, late seventies also a possible interpretation). Think you'd be interested in adding them to your user page if I created them. It make researching our systemic bias easier. Please respond on my talk page. [edit] Wiki soap fans

Just wanted to say hi, fellow Wiki soap fan here. Saw you created the Pam Long article. NickBurns 01:09, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

Re your reply: I'm a big GL fan - not a great thing to be right now, since Proctor and Gamble and CBS seem intent on killing the show. For a time in college I was very close to going through a writer's program for P&G and becoming a writer. I always liked the more realism based shows so I can't say I was ever a big fan of Days (sorry!) but I can certainly understand why it's been popular. NickBurns 03:29, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

I didn't do the P&G thing because it was a writing program and not a job, and I didn't have money to pull out of my ass to support that fantasy. It wouldn't have guaranteed me any job, though I would have been great at it. I'm so glad I didn't now, because P&G isn't a good company to work for. NickBurns 22:26, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hi!

Hi Mike! I hope you remember me. We've chatted online quite a bit, and even on the phone. Anyway. I noticed a note you placed on the talk page of User:Boisemedia about his creation of a Godawfulugly broadcast template, and then its rapid dispursal throughout wikipedia. This guy is a big. old thorn in my side. I do alot of editing to Salt Lake City pages, and he just seems to like to make my life miserable by changing things, or trying to one-up me with Boise versions of SLC pages I have made. [edit] thanks for supporting me

Hello, just a quick note to express my gratitude for your support of my RfA. I'm sure I'll become a familiar face on places like the Administrator's Noticeboard and Requests for Adminship, as well as the murkier parts of my new job. "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." (Luke 12:48, NIV) Never was a truer word spoken. I feel empowered, yes, but not in the "oooh cool delete button!" way I was kind of expecting. Already I feel the weight of the responsibility I have now been entrusted with, a weight that will no doubt reduce given time. Thank you for believing in me. :) GarrettTalk 10:33, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Please Help

First, let me thank you for your help on the Tom Swift and Hardy Boys pages but unfortunately the vandal RMedford (talkcontribslogsblock userblock log) has been on a vandalizing jag for the last several days, removing external links from many different juvenile series book articles. He/she refuses to respond on talk pages. This is clearly a case of cyber-stalking as RMedford has made no contributions, just deletions of external links. Please block this maniac!--FWDixon 12:01, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Missed ya!

Well, I'll be doggoned. Not only was I thinking of you just this morning, but I was thinking just the other day as to how an article on the phrase "mamma mia" might be worthwhile after listening to "Bohemian Rhapsody!" Great minds think alike!! Another thing that got me to thinking of you was the fact that the cable TV service just moved SOAPnet to digital cable. Wife's going nuts.  :) I also learned that one of my co-workers had a small role on GH back in the '80s! She brought a videocassette of her scene the other day. I about fell off of the chair when Judith walked in the scene. She was on the "set" of a show called "Teen Talk." John Stamos was in the scene as well, come to think of it. Yup...you were the first person I thought of.

Anywho, my wife has a copy of "ABBA'S Greatest Hits" at home and the liner notes have some histories of the tracks. Betcha I'll take a look tonight, bubbie. - Lucky 6.9 19:18, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] I wired in links to the TV schedules

66.167.137.161 20:12, 24 September 2005 (UTC): After noticing from a "What links here" check that someone had proposed deleting the TV schedules, I thought I would mention that I am glad they are there. I used them in a really obscure way (confirming that Daktari was on during a severe tornado of that era). I just made a series of changes to better integrate the schedules into related articles and categories. Given the almost-excessive interest in popular culture among Wikipedians, I suspect that they'll get integrated into more articles over time, once people are more aware of their existence. I suspect that the 21st century entries will continue to expand, though I hope to see you use whatever source you used to flesh out the early years of TV, since the historical stuff in Wikipedia gets magnitudes of less attention than news such as Hurricane Rita and the latest science fiction films and TV shows.==Re ordering of Years in TV== Aha! Thats pretty cool Mike. Nice board. I've been an RA for the past 4 years. I'm a grad RA this year so its pretty nice getting free room, board, and a full tuition waiver as well as a pretty hefty monthly stipend. What kind of RA package do you get down there? --ScottyBoy900Q 11:40, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

Mike, I think the reason we get such a nice package is because the Residential Education here is one of the best in the country and they really really really try to promote it and make sure the staff is well motivated and taken care of. As an undergrad you get free room and board plus a small (under a hundred bucks) biweekly stipend. As a grad student RA (which I am) you get free room, free board, free tuition, and a bigger stipend. Its a lot of fun though and I've been doing it for a while.
Im sure you saw that we beat Louisville this past weekend....We play USF next weekend and it should be pretty good as you guys have some really good coaching i think. --ScottyBoy900Q 15:37, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

It's not about just AiTF, but about the whole dynamic evolution of television in that ten-year period. Even an expert on TV of the era, like me, is learning new stuff! [edit] Japanese name order

Hi Mike,

I noticed your edit summary for Sayako Kuroda, in which you state that you fixed the name order according to MoS. As far as I know, the debate on name order for modern Japanese people remains unresolved. For historical persons, we decided on Surname-Given name order, but for modern people, we welcome input at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles)#Name Order Discussion. (Of course, I did not revert your change.)

Best regards,

Hi, Mike. I want to thank you very much for supporting my RfA, and to say also that I hope I'll make a good job of it. My apologies for not thanking you sooner, but I was caught up with college assignments, and even though I was still at the computer and sometimes using my new rollback button, I had to postpone thanking about half of those who supported me. I appreciate your support all the more as my ninth edit to Wikipedia was one where I disagreed with you, and I don't think I've had any contact with you apart from that. Perhaps I should take this opportunity to clarify that I do accept that Dave was a problem editor, even though I largely shared his POV. However, I felt that he was treated very aggressively, and as far as I could see, none of his long outbursts on the Terri Schiavo talk page matched the attacks which were made against him. However, I fully realize that those attacks did not come from you. Anyway, he's gone, and I'm still here, and I try to edit some non-controversial articles as well! Cheers. [edit] Mac & Rachel

What makes you think Mac and Rachel weren't a supercouple? Because "they were not planned to be a couple" in the begining?

On General Hospital Laura was with Scotty and married to him before she got with Luke. And Luke even raped Laura before they became a "supercouple." They clearly were not planned to be a couple.

On Days Of Our Lives Marlena was married, had children, and loved Roman Brady for years before she met and married John Black. Many "Days" fans believe Roman and Marlena were/are a supercouple but they aren't even on the list.

Jamie and Babe from All My Children are on this list and they haven't even been on All My Children half as long as the characters of Mac and Rachel were on Another World. They weren't even together as long as Mac and Rachel were together. Are they a supercouple?

Who gets to define who is/was a "super" couple and who is/was just a "popular" couple?

[edit] re:Mac and Rachel

I wasn't trying to sound mean and I had no intention on hurting your feelings. I mean no hard feelings and tried to word it in a nice way.

I just wondered what makes couples like Luke and Laura on GH and John and Marlena on DOOL "supercouples" when like Mac and Rachel they were not planned to be a couple either. And a couple like Jamie and Babe on AMC a "supercouple" when they have only been on AMC less then 5 years and they aren't even together anymore.

Really I don't care that much if they (Mac & Rachel) are on the list or not. I just found it odd that in many soap publications that I've read (Soap Opera Digest, Soap Opera Weekly, etc.) Mac and Rachel Cory were considered to be a "supercouple."Well okay then if you don't think Mac & Rachel are a "supercouple" that's cool. I happen to think they are but oh well.I wasn't trying to sound mean and I had no intention on hurting your feelings. I mean no hard feelings and tried to word it in a nice way.

[edit] Please do not be arbitrary

Regarding mrirrelevanttvposter, please do not be arbitrary. It is unclear to me how anyone would get this poster confused with you -- all of the attributes the two of you have in common are widely shared. It seems like an abuse of your administrative powers to permanently block a good faith editor. At the vary least, at least respond my arguments regarding this block rather than simply deleting these these contentions and dismissing them with a conclusory "nope". Questionasker

Good faith edits or not, the account was clearly made to imitate and make fun of me. Also, a CheckUser check proved that Posterdude (who had vandalized ugly with my picture) and Mrirrelevanttvposter were the same. Mike H. That's hot 18:29, 26 January 2006 (UTC)**So, assuming that this user seeks to turn over a new leaf and make good faith edits (sometimes on pages you also edit, as he has interests similar to your own), how could he go about doing this without being blocked? Pleaseexplainmyblock
Well, first off, after being unblocked, they'd have to make their own user page, and not simply copy and ridicule my own. Wikipedia:No personal attacks is rather clear on that. Personally, I do not believe there is someone at my university who is 100% exactly like me, so just state who you are on your user page. You're obviously creating different accounts, so just make a new one because you don't seem to be hindered in any way. Mike H. That's hot 18:49, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
OK, I admit that I copied a few of the templates (eg english, republican) from your user page becaue I don't know how to make them (I am a newbie), but I did not copy the whole thing, just the items that applied to me -- it seems that a lot of users use these very logos. Also, somehow it seems that the categories reflected on that user page -- being from florida, BGLT, a republican, and speaking english -- are, even in combination, frequently shared characteristics for USF students (and they do all apply to me). To be honest, I was annoyed about some unexplained changes you made to my edits in the past. I behaved immaturely in response and I apologize for that. But I honestly do want to contribute to Wikipedia and, as part of this community, would like to be able to identify myself as a member of the categories to which I belong (which I did on the mrirrelevanttvposter user page). As I said, I am genuinely sorry for my past actions and would appeciate the opportunity to constructively edit in my area of interest (mainly pop culture) without being blocked. Thank you for the guidance and thank you in advance for accomodating my commitment to contributing in good faith in the future. Questionasker

Just wanted to let you know that List of guest stars on The Flip Wilson Show is being considered for deletion, and I feel somewhat responsible because I brought up the page as an example as why a similar list for the Howard Stern show should be kept. [edit] Your lapse

I want to believe you walked away from your terminal while logged in at WP, resulting in this edit. On the other hand, if it should occur again, i am prepared to argue that your admin status should be pulled. My reasoning is that repetition would indicate we cannot be confident that you adequately protect your admin capabilities from abuse by others, and that failing to give us that confidence is an abuse of admin status.
--Jerzyt 19:25, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

== Your lapse, again ==

First, your talk page is badly broken, so that "[edit]" lks on recently added sections provide blank edit screens, and others edit the wrong section. IMO, several of the many boxes on the page do something funny, maybe having to do with hdgs inside a template, or with unbalanced tags.

In any case, the edit was at 05:11, 12 February 2006, which was almost exactly 15 hours ago. I hope you a wracking your brains about who had physical access at that time. If no one, you should IMO change your password immediately.

I think you'll see i assumed good faith, but there are limits to the principle. In the event of recurrence, however, i am essentially arguing that assuming good faith would in fact mean assuming your security measures are intolerably lax, which is something quite different from your acting in bad faith.
--Jerzyt 20:18, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Hmm. Thot thru the workaround, which is edit your whole talk page instead of the section -- which may however not work for the short-edit-pane browsers.

I didn't really catch, before, what you said abt an ed conf (perhaps in the confusion you caused me by changing yr msg w/o using strikethru for deleted/replaced and bold for new/replacement). Besides the era of ed-conf bugs seeming to be over, i don't think they ever did worse than badly handling the ed-conf resolution aspect, which is part of the handling of the the second-saving editor's save. The first saving editor's save is in no way exceptional, and nothing about it should be (nor plausibly is) affected by what occurs later. And the second saver's edit starts and ends as an unexceptional edit, with all the complexities being in the determination of the content of the (accurately historied) revision attributed to it. Loss of history entries is implausible, and barring that, your edit would have to have begun before Pavel's save, i.e. 16 hours before you saved it. I urge you to stay focused on scenarios of password exposure and of unattended active WP session (assuming you don't experience blackouts!).
--Jerzyt 21:21, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
I don't know what you think i've made my mind up about, but i am increasingly concerned by the lack of any indication that you intend any more vigilance in this matter than if i had said nothing. If you again eliminate from this page evidence of this matter being discussed, i will express my concern at WP:AN instead.

[edit] Brady

You might want to add an explanation on the reference desk about what crufty means before you get accused of throwing jargon at a newbie. :) By the way, I didn't read the article, but are you saying that there's almost more stuff on what she does now than what she used to do? Perhaps that whole lot can be shortened to accomodate more info in less words? - Mgm|(talk) 21:28, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Unless the city is very small, the name of a city isn't really privacy invading (as long as it's verifiable from trustworthy sources). I would include about 2 lines on what she does and in what area. For example: "She's now lives in New York earning money as a writer." I doubt any more detail is needed, but at least a quick line serves the purpose of having at least some of the information they provided included in a short and concise manner. - Mgm|(talk) 10:00, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
