Hi Mike. I have a question. How do you find it better:

  • 1994 - Album name

or

  • Album Name (1991)
  • Album Name (1994)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:March 1991 - Guitar World.JPG

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:March 1991 - Guitar World.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. -- Schnee (cheeks clone) 04:15, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:1990_Colt_Vista.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:1990_Colt_Vista.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 06:25, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from trash talking other users for editing youre userpage the way you did. Thanks Whopper is in the building 23:00, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Mike warned someone not to vandalize his user page any more. There's nothing wrong with that. I don't think Mike was "trash talking". Rhobite 23:26, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
I guess you're right. I was a bit harsh, sorry mike. Whopper 18:27, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rush's new album

Their new album is called Gold? Could you link me to a press release or something? I'm eager to learn more ^_^ Deckiller 01:12, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your report to WP:RFI

Just to let you know that page is not for reporting simple cases of vandalism (as carried out by User:82.50.21.154), the place for simple vandalism is WP:AIV, where you will get a much faster response in those sort of cases. Anyway that IP has been blocked for 48 hours. Petros471 18:22, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Collective proper nouns

Band names are collective proper noun plurals. "The Smashing Pumpkins was" is correct. All the members make up one band. The Smashing Pumpkins was a single entity. I have confirmed this with my university English professor. I am not the only one reverting your changes. —RJN 00:41, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Just because a band's name ends with "s" does not make them plural. If your last name is Williams, you are still one person. Therefore the sentence would be, "Mr. Williams has three pets." not "Mr. Williams have three pets." Do you understand the use of collective proper nouns? —RJN 00:50, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Collective nouns

Please stop modifying the verb tense associated with collective nouns in band titles. Since the noun as a collective is singular, the proper verbs to use are "is" and "was", not "are" and "were". If you continue your assault on English grammar you will earn yourself a longer block. --Cyde Weys 01:01, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Centinela Adobe

I have seen the front before, but never visited inside the place. I do live in the city, but I should check it out. --SkinnerIJA 04:34, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] banning

Hi Mike,

do you know how can i propose a user for banning ? See user Salmosus. He made a lot of stupid changes on Negura Bunget. I mean he added info, but NOT ON THE STANDARD. This guy is terribile. I change the color for the infobox on an EP, he chance it to GREEN ! I change it back to salmon, he chances that to Orange. A lot of EDITS. Just look at the history page on Negura Bunget. This guy should be banned since he dos more bad things than good. I also emailed him. --PET 23:49, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiproject: Alternative music

Hey, are you interested in participating in a Wikproject I am starting dedicated to alternative/indie rock music? WesleyDodds 05:45, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Here's my temp page for the project: User:WesleyDodds/Alternative music. Please list any pages you can think of that apply to the relevant sections, or create your own. WesleyDodds 07:30, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:John Christopher Hepesus

A better place to post you comment would be on the administrator's noticeboard. I have given the user the benefit of the doubt and told me to get a b-crat to change his name. If there are any problems they can soon be rectified. -- Psy guy Talk 15:19, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] plural versus singular, on band names

I explained the grammatical rules that concern whether a band is singular or plural. Then I [Violent Femmes:talk|explained] that any further changes should be discussed, in order to reach a consensus. You did not discuss it, and changed it back without offering any possible reasons to support your edit. If you do not respond with supporting evidence, I will consider your edit to be vandalism, and will revert it. Freekee 03:12, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for discussing the issue. I have commented there again. I look forward to reading what you have to say about it. Freekee 03:48, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

What he said. The singular is called for in this case. You've clearly been warned about this before. I will continue to revert incorrect grammatical changes. Mackensen (talk) 19:25, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

It is not a plural name. Internal Affairs refers to a single entity. Moreover, this is not a situation in which the name refers to a group of people (as in The Beatles or The Rolling Stones). The name used in proper context (The Department of Internal affairs is a department) clearly demonstrates the singularity of the noun. Proper conjugation demands the use of "is" and not "are". Please stop reverting. Mackensen (talk) 19:41, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your latest block

You have been blocked for 24 hours for continuing this yet agian. See more at ANI. --Cyde Weys 05:00, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

It was irresponsible for you to block Mike to gain an advantage in this content dispute. Please unblock him. Rhobite 14:34, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Userbox Award

Although, you know what? I think you're right...since it wasn't your idea to make the userbox funny I don't think you deserve the star. By the way, it's common courtesy to thank people when they award you a barnstar. Rosa 01:43, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mike Garcia

Regarding your inane message on the List of Nu metal musical groups page about System of a Down, one sentence has me kind of confused. "Not only is their music similar to nu metal, but the genre is not supported by System of a Down." Is this saying that even though their music SOUNDS like nu-metal, they aren't so because the band doesn't like the label? You might want to clarify. Gordonjay 23:54, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey!

Hey Mike,

You know the banned User:Wik? Check out what he did to my user page recentely:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Khoikhoi&oldid=50083056

You're mentioned in it, and so is Hephaestos. Pretty original, huh? :p —Khoikhoi 08:29, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

P.S. the part about George Washington here made me laugh pretty hard. —Khoikhoi 08:29, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey Mike, while we're on the subject of "greasers", just wanted to let you know that I blocked Joey Garcia for being an impersonator of your brother whose sole purpose was to attack you and vandalise your user page (he also created Template:User Greaser which had a picture of you in it). --Deathphoenix ʕ 18:33, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

No problem. I didn't think he would. :-) --Deathphoenix ʕ 01:25, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Semiprotected Userpage

I've semiprotected your userpage per a request at WP:RfPP to prevent further vandalism to your userpage. Drop me a note once/if you think you're ready to unprotect--it's your userpage, so I would see no problem leaving it protected as long as you want to. Oh, and feel free to remove the sprotected template from the top; it's not necessary, just "standard procedure." AmiDaniel (talk) 21:35, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Just to clarify, you want your userpage fully protected? Prodego talk 22:58, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes, please go ahead and protect it. I don't have to edit my page. Mike Garcia 23:00, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
Done. Let me know if you need it unprotected. Prodego talk 23:02, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
